The ACC is perennially the best basketball conference in the country. Blue bloods like Duke and North Carolina are almost always among the favorites to win the NCAA Tournament, and the conference is responsible for five of the last 10 national champions. More than half of the teams in the ACC are likely to make it to the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday, and a few teams are looking to play their way into the field with a strong performance in Charlotte. The most underrated part of the college basketball season is the week before the start of the NCAA Tournament. Almost every conference is holding its conference tournament then, and that gives all 350+ Division I teams one more time to save their season. Only a handful of Cinderellas manage to emerge and oust the top teams in their conference in order to claim their conference’s automatic bid, but those that do get the chance to become March Madness legends.... 

College basketball’s regular season is over, and soon we will see which teams will be dancing on Selection Sunday. There are more than 350 Division I programs in the country, but only 68 will have the chance to call themselves NCAA Champions at the beginning of April. None of the power conferences are playing on Monday, but some mid major conferences are in the midst of determining which team will get their conference’s automatic bid to the Big Dance.... 

Three tickets to the Big Dance will be punched on Sunday, highlighting the day’s slate of games. The Atlantic Sun, Big South and Missouri Valley Conferences all hold their tournament championship game. The A-Sun got it right with the top two teams squaring off. Unlike most other conferences, the games are played on campus sites with the Lipscomb Bison hosting the Liberty Flames. ... 

Fans of college basketball can rejoice and get primed for the Big Dance with a full slate of games on the Saturday schedule. There are conference tournament matchups, rivalry games, and rivalry games that will decide a regular season conference champion. Two games between nationally-ranked clubs will not only give one team bragging rights, the outcome will also determine league champions. ... 

The Ohio State Buckeyes steamrolled through their non-conference slate and won their first two Big Ten games to end the calendar year with just one loss in their first 13 games and a national ranking. Things haven’t been as sweet since and OSU’s hopes for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid evaporated with a 6-11 mark in 2019. Adding to the problem, the Buckeyes’ best player was suspended and likely won’t play on Saturday. With Kaleb Wesson out, OSU was outscored by 53 points in pair of defeats.... 

The North Carolina Tar Heels showed the rest of the basketball world just how susceptible to losing the Duke Blue Devils are without Zion Williamson. The Heels exploded for a huge win at Cameron Indoor when the future No. 1 NBA draft pick blew out a shoe and tweaked his knee in the opening moments of UNC’s eventual 88-72 victory. The Heels have rattled off six straight wins to share the ACC lead heading into the final weekend of regular season play.... 

Does anyone want to win the Big Ten? The top contenders all lost recently, leaving a three-way tie at the top of the standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season. This matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans will leave the winner with at least a share of the title and MSU has a chance to sweep the season series, which will give them bragging rights in the state for the next year.... 

The Florida Gators are on the NCAA Tournament bubble and likely have to upset the Kentucky Wildcats to secure a spot. The Gators blew a chance to improve their chances with an overtime loss to LSU in their last game and need some good fortune to get in. The Cats are hobbling down the stretch, though they have won two of three. They sandwiched a pair of four-point wins around a big loss to Tennessee, leaving the Cats a game off the lead heading into the final regular season tilt.... 

Can divine intervention from Sister Jean propel Loyola-Chicago into the Dance again this season? The Ramblers earned a share of the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title and begin defense of their tournament championship as the No. 1 seed. The MVC will get one ticket to the Dance, making every tournament game a one-and-done. The Southern, Metro Atlantic Athletic, Ohio Valley and West Coast Conferences are all in the process of determining their automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournamen... 

While a number of leagues head into the final few games of the regular season, a few others are getting the Madness started with their conference tournaments underway. Teams in the Big South, Atlantic Sun, Patriot, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley and West Coast Conferences all begin the quest for the automatic bid to the Big Dance as part of a full slate of betting action on the Thursday college basketball schedule.... 

The Duke Blue Devils showed they can win without Zion Williamson, putting a 30-point thrashing on Miami in Saturday’s ACC tilt. And with the man-child expected back in the lineup soon, the Dookies remain the favorite to win the 2019 NCAA basketball national championship at BookMaker. Oddsmakers weren’t overly concerned about Duke’s chances as their odds remain virtually the same from last week. ... 

If you’re looking to make some coin, Wednesday’s college basketball schedule offers plenty of opportunities with a full slate of action. The mid-major conferences take over the day with six games slated in Conference USA while the Southland Conference and A10 have five games on the docket.... 

The last week of regular season college basketball is underway and plenty remains to be decided before conference tournament time. The Tuesday slate has several intriguing matchups with nationally ranked teams looking to solidify their positioning and other clubs attempting to gain steam for a run at the Big Dance. ... 

Some things in life, actually a lot of things, are bigger than basketball. Syracuse Orange coach Jim Boeheim is finding that out, just in case he didn’t know. And if he thought a return to the court was going to be his sanctuary, the basketball gods played a cruel joke on him. Facing Duke and North Carolina in games following an accident where Boeheim struck and killed a man on a Syracuse highway, the mood was somber. And so was the Orange’s play, losing both contests. Facing the top three teams... 

If you were concerned about the well being of the Michigan Wolverines following their loss to Michigan State over the weekend, don’t be. UM took out its frustration against hapless Nebraska on Thursday, pounding the Huskers 82-53. UM is a game back of Purdue and MSU in the loss column for first place in the Big Ten and a rematch with Sparty closes out the regular season. The Wolverines have to get past the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday, or get some help along the way to make that game more meanin... 

The Marquette Golden Eagles have been one of the surprise teams in college basketball this year and have a great shot at adding to their profits against a Creighton Blue Jays team that has no defense. The Michigan Wolverines are projected as a two seed for the Big Dance but will face a Maryland Terrapins team that is among the most improved in the country. The Washington Huskies are one of the few accomplished teams in the pathetic Pac 12 Conference but could face a potential trap at the Stanfor... 

Selection Sunday is just over two weeks away and a number of teams will attempt to impress the committee in the final few regular season games while also gathering momentum for their conference tournament. There is a full slate of games on tap for Saturday with most of Division I playing. The top-25 will be well represented with 19 ranked teams in action, and there are several huge matchups to tantalize the college basketball aficionado.... 

For the second consecutive season the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will miss the NCAA Tournament after qualifying in seven of the previous eight seasons. In fact, head coach Mike Brey’s team is struggling just to avoid a losing season. The Louisville Cardinals got off to a hot start this year but have been fading badly down the stretch. First year head coach Chris Mack got the Cards ranked as high as 15^th but now the task of having to clean up for the Rick Pitino era is taking its toll. ... 

The MAC is featured in college basketball on Friday and two of our three college basketball bests bets will be from that conference. The Buffalo Bulls have been the headliner in the conference this season, as they are ranked No. 21 in the country and they lead the MAC East with a record of 13-2. The Bulls will visit the Miami-Ohio Redhawks in one of our three Friday best bets. Let’s look at the action for Friday.... 

The TCU Horned Frogs may have stepped on a fatal landmine on Tuesday. TCU needed to avoid a loss to Big 12 cellar dweller West Virginia in order to move closer to .500 in Big 12 play and help their NCAA Tournament resume. Instead, the Horned Frogs fell to the Mountaineers (albeit in triple overtime) to move to 6-9 in conference play. It seems very likely that TCU will finish with a losing conference record now, and that could keep them out of March Madness. A win over Big 12 co-leader Kansas Sta... 

A three-way tie for first place at the top of the SEC will be broken on Saturday when two of the clubs square off. The Kentucky Wildcats had a statement win two weeks ago, knocking off then-No. 1 ranked Tennessee. That game took place in Lexington and the venue change for the rematch will inspire the Vols. So will the memory of that 17-point thrashing. Both teams were probably looking ahead to this showdown as they escaped with narrow wins during the week.... 

For all the folks who said the North Carolina Tar Heels blowout of Duke last week was tainted due to Zion Williamson’s blowout, they better think again. UNC followed that win over the Dookies with a thorough trouncing of a good Florida State team and knocked off Syracuse, who won in Cameron Indoor earlier this season, over the weekend. There is a rematch with Duke looming in the final regular season tilt, and Zion could be back. In the meantime the Heels will attempt to keep their share of the A... 

The Michigan State Spartans had no business winning their last game. Playing shorthanded and on the road against Michigan, Sparty somehow found a way to take down its rival, and they did so rather convincingly. The win kept the Spartans tied with Purdue atop the Big Ten standings with just a few games remaining. There is a rematch with the Wolverines to close the regular season with a couple of games against teams at the bottom of the conference before that. The first is Saturday against the Ind... 

The Duke Blue Devils have been considered a top tier Final Four favorite since the onset of the season. But now head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Blue Devils championship prospects have come down to the knee of powerful star forward Zion Williamson. Williamson blew out a new pair of Nike shoes when Duke hosted the hated arch rival North Carolina Tar Heels and has been on day to day status ever since.
