College Basketball Odds - Michigan State at Seton Hall Picks

College Basketball Odds - Michigan State Spartans at Seton Hall Pirates

The Michigan State Spartans are testing themselves early and often this season. They didn't get off to a great start in the opener with a loss to Kentucky, and will try to rebound against another ranked opponent next time out. Michigan State will hit the road to face the Seton Hall Pirates. Both teams are ranked in the top-15 and Seton Hall would love to pick up a huge victory by pulling the upset in this one. March Madness is still far away but this could be an early-season statement game for each of these teams against a quality foe.

Seton Hall will be tested as it won’t have the services of its best player, so others are going to need to operate at a high level in order to pick up the win over a Michigan State team that may be the best in the country.

This college basketball regular season game between the Michigan State Spartans and Seton Hall Pirates will be held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 14, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on FS1.

We'll have college basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019-20 college basketball season.

Odds Analysis

Michigan State is 1-1 on the season. It fell to Kentucky by a score of 69-62 in its opener, as the offense struggled. The Spartans were able to bounce back last time out and cruise to a 100-47 win over Binghamton.

Seton Hall is 2-0 on the season, but both games came against inferior foes. The Pirates beat up on Wagner in their opener and but didn’t look like world beaters in their win over Stony Brook last time out.

Michigan State should be the team to beat in this game, so keep an eye on the spread.

Player to Watch

Cassius Winston -- The best player on the floor will be the Michigan State senior guard. He is averaging 19.0 points, 7.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Winston is shooting 42.9 percent from the field this year and is a solid free throw shooter.

Winston recently dealt with some tragedy in his family when his brother was struck and killed by an Amtrak train. He played in the game following the accident but will undoubtedly be grieving for a long time following the loss. Michigan State coach Tom Izzo told Winston he doesn’t have to play but the Spartans star wanted to remain on the court.

Injury Report

Seton Hall is expected to be short-handed in this one as star guard Myles Powell suffered a serious ankle sprain last time out. It is a big-time loss, as he was the Big East Preseason Player of the Year and an All-America candidate.

Powell had 27 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals in the season opener but was injured just four minutes into the game against Stony Brook. He averaged 23.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game a season ago, shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three-point range.

Seton Hall is going to need a variety of players to step up in this one with Powell on the bench with the injury.

College Basketball Pick

Michigan State is one of the favorites to win the national championship, so this game would have been challenging for the Pirates no matter what. The loss of Powell cannot be overstated, and Seton Hall will now be a bigger underdog. The Spartans are the pick to come away with the road win and get back on track after the early-season stumble. Michigan State has a great team and should eventually pull away.

College Basketball Pick: Michigan State Spartans 75, Seton Hall Pirates 68
