Kentucky Derby Betting: Enticed has not been afraid to take on the best. This horse has run in six races at five different tracks and all of his races have been graded stakes outside of his maiden race.
After winning his maiden race, Enticed was entered into the Champagne Stakes. He finished third behind Firenze Fire and Good Magic, but his performance was good enough for his owners to enter him into the Kentucky Jockey Club later in the year. There, he bested a promising field that included Derby entrants Promises Fulfilled and Lone Sailor.
This year, Enticed has had some mixed performances. He had his worst performance since his maiden race at the Holy Bull Stakes, finishing more than a dozen lengths off the pace. However, he did follow that up with his best performance yet, crushing both Free Drop Billy and Firenze Fire at the Gotham Stakes. Now, owner Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum is hoping that Enticed will be his first horse to finish in the money at the Kentucky Derby.

Enticed will have a half-brother in this race. He shares a sire with Bolt d’Oro, who was also sired by Medaglia d’Oro. Medaglia d’Oro was a successful horse in his time, and he has been a successful sire too. His dam was It’s Tricky.
His trainer will be looking to win his first Kentucky Derby. Kiaran McLaughlin has been to the Derby seven times before, but he has yet to see the Winner’s Circle. The closest he came was with Closing Argument, who finished second in 2005.
Junior Alvarado will jockey Enticed at the Derby. He has only jockeyed once before at the Kentucky Derby, riding Mohaymen to fourth place two years ago.
Why Enticed Will Win the Kentucky Derby
This is one of the more experienced horses in the field. Enticed has raced on five different tracks and has faced a number of the horses that are considered favorites on Saturday.
He is also one of a handful of horses to have raced at Churchill Downs before. That’s typically one of the more underrated factors coming into a major races, as horses tend to be more comfortable at places they’ve been too before on surfaces they’ve run on before.
Why Enticed Won't Win the Kentucky Derby
Enticed has only posted a speed rating over 100 once before. That was the 104 he put up at the Gotham Stakes. He has not proven he can match that yet, and his speed rating was 99 in his last race.
The Final Verdict
At over 25-1, Enticed is worth a flyer. His experience gives him an edge over some of the other horses, and he has shown that he can move on a good day. I wouldn’t peg him as a favorite, but he has value at this price.
