SD Huesca at Barcelona - 2018-19 La Liga Props

SD Huesca could not have asked for a better start during their first ever season in La Liga. The tiny Aragonese club is making its La Liga debut, and they have been able to pick up results in both of their matches. They will face a tall task when they take on giants Barcelona this weekend though. Barca dwarf Huesca in terms of well…everything. The Blaugrana have more titles, more history, more support, and more money. That will be a lot for Huesca to try and overcome.

Odds Analysis

Barcelona are one of the biggest favorites we have ever seen in La Liga play. It’s rare to see a team greater than 1/10 per the La Liga betting odds, and they are a good portion over that. There are likely a number of people putting Barcelona in parlays, and that could cause the number to tick up a little bit more.

The Blaugrana have won every match of importance since the International Champions Cup ended. They defeated Sevilla 2-1 three weeks ago to win the Spanish Supercup, and they followed that up a few days later with a win over Argentinian powerhouse Boca Juniors in a friendly.

Two weeks ago, Barca started La Liga play and they got off on the right foot there as well. Alaves tried to pack the box and pray for a draw in their La Liga match, but Lionel Messi broke open the scoring midway through the second half in a 3-0 Barcelona win. Last week, Barca only beat Real Valladolid 1-0, but the conditions of the pitch were horrendous. Entire portions of the field were coming up, leaving gigantic holes, and it was a wonder that no player was hurt.

SD Huesca have four points through their first two La Liga matches in club history. Two weeks ago, they knocked off Eibar on the road thanks to a brace from Alex Gallar. It was a gigantic moment for the club, and they had some help thanks to a shoddy defensive performance from Eibar.

They looked great on the road once more last week. Huesca were down 2-0 to Athletic Bilbao in one of the toughest environments in Spanish football, yet they erased the deficit and got a draw with goals from Jorge Miramon in the 71st minute and Ezequiel Avila in the 87th minute.

Injury Report

There are no injuries of note for Huesca coming into this match. That’s great news considering they will need all hands on deck to pull a point out of this one.

Barcelona will be without three players for this match. Sergi Samper is out a few more weeks after picking up a sprained ankle last weekend, while Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes are still recovering from hamstring injuries suffered in summer. Jasper Cillessen is considered questionable with a rib injury, while Carles Alena is probable and back in training.

Player to Watch

Ousmane Dembele came to Barcelona with lofty expectations two years ago, and he has played well thus far. Dembele fired in Barca’s lone goal last week against Valladolid, and that was a noteworthy feat considering just how bad the field was. At 21 years old, he has a bright future ahead of him and Barca are going to give him more run in the starting lineup this season. The hope is he can put his prodigious talent together and shine.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

I think Huesca will keep this match a lot closer than many believe. Huesca will make Barcelona bettors sweat after laying such heavy juice, but in the end Barcelona will pull out the win.
