Titans at Chiefs SNF Week 9 Betting

Andy Reid has been one of the best coaches in the NFL over his two-plus decades with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Reid is 238-137-1 (.634 winning percentage) in his 24 seasons as a head coach, and he has won 71.1% of his games on the sidelines of Kansas City. The long-time head coach is known for his great gameplans, leading to the Chiefs being enormous favorites against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday Night Football. Reid is 20-3 following a bye week, and although Tennessee has won five in a row, none of those victories were too impressive.

The Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs are looking to chase down the Buffalo Bills for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. They will meet on Sunday Night Football from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

Odds Analysis

There has been a decent amount of action on Kansas City in this game, and no small part of that is due to Reid’s sterling record after a bye week. The Chiefs opened as 11.5-point favorites in this game per the NFL betting odds, and they rose all the way to -13.5 before action came in on the Titans. The total has remained static throughout the week though.

Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans got off to an 0-2 start this season, but they have since won five straight games. However, none of those victories was by more than nine points, and the best opponent they faced was 4-4 Washington. The Titans beat up on their weak division in most of those games, knocking off Indianapolis twice before going into Houston and escaping with a 17-10 victory last week.

As we have seen for the last few years, the key to this offense is the great Derrick Henry. The most feared running back in the NFL ran for over 200 yards and two TDs against the Texans last week and is now 3rd in the NFL in rushing with 755 yards (4.5 YPC) and seven touchdowns. However, he is listed as Questionable to play this week with a foot injury alongside starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill. If Tannehill can’t play, rookie Malik Willis will be forced to make his second straight start.

Tennessee’s star defensive player is Questionable to play this week too. Defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons is dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of practice on Wednesday. Simmons has yet to miss time with the injury though, gritting his way through last week’s win over Houston. He has 5.5 sacks so far this season, and he is expected to play as there is not a lot of depth right now.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is having a great season for Kansas City, but what else is new? A few skeptics expected Mahomes’ numbers to fall off without Tyreek Hill, yet he continues to play at a high level. Mahomes has completed 66.9% of his passes for 2,159 yards (8.2 YPA) with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions on the year. Tight end Travis Kelce is his top target, but free agent acquisitions JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have shined too.

This ground game still leaves something to be desired. Clyde Edwards-Helaire has never been able to fulfill the promise we saw during his career at LSU, but he is still the top back on the roster and is averaging 4.4 YPC. Seventh-round pick Isiah Pacheco from Rutgers is seeing more time though, and he could supplant Edwards-Helaire by the end of the year.

Kansas City ranks 23rd in scoring defense (24.6 PPG) and 26th in total defense (369.0 YPG). The Chiefs have a top eight run defense, but opponents have had some success through the air against these defensive backs. They were hoping that first-round pick Trent McDuffie could make an immediate impact, yet that has failed to happen.

Look for the Chiefs to roll in this game. Tennessee’s three most important players are all questionable to play, while Kansas City is fresh off a bye and playing at home.
