NFL Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks - Bet on Football

NFL Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks

If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We went 2-4 with the picks in Week 2 and that means a slow start to the season with a record of 4-6. We’ll look to turn things around in Week 3. Let’s take a look at the Week 3 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 3 Ugly Dog Picks

New York Giants +3.5 vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Giants are 0-2 and they are now without their top offensive weapon in Saquon Barkley who is out for the season. There is very little to like about the Giants and now they face a San Francisco team coming off a loss. The 49ers are banged up and that is why this number is so low. It looks like New York is going to be a regular in this column this season, as they are a team going nowhere. We’ll take the Giants plus the points as an ugly dog.

Washington Redskins +7 at Cleveland Browns

The Redskins are the only team this week among the ugly dogs that doesn’t have a losing record. Washington is still a bad team, but they have shown some signs of life and they are catching a touchdown on the road against a Cleveland team that might be overrated. We’ll take the Redskins as an ugly dog.

New York Jets +11 at Indianapolis Colts

There is no getting around this one, as the Jets are a bad team with perhaps the worst head coach in the NFL in Adam Gase. They are catching double-digits on the road against an Indianapolis team that looked much better last week in a win over Minnesota. This is the classic ugly dog play that has worked really well over the years. We take the bad team getting big points in a game that is not supposed to be competitive. We’ll take the Jets as an ugly dog.

Carolina Panthers +6.5 at Los Angeles Chargers

The Panthers are playing hard, but now they have to find a way to be competitive without their best player, as Christian McCaffrey is out. They face a Los Angeles team that nearly upset the Chiefs last week. Will the Panthers show some heart and rally without their best player or will they go to the West Coast and roll over? We’ll take Carolina plus the points as an ugly dog.

Detroit Lions +6 at Arizona Cardinals

The Lions shouldn’t be the worst team in the NFL, but after two weeks they look just as bad as the two New York teams. The Lions are poorly coached, but they do have some offensive talent. They will be facing an Arizona team that looks to be much better than a year ago. It is a little surprising that the line on this game is not at least a touchdown. Detroit fits into the ugly dog category, but this one looks scary, as the Lions should be getting more points. Regardless, we take the Lions as an ugly dog.

Denver Broncos +6 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Broncos are 0-2 and now going with a backup quarterback in Jeff Driskel with Drew Lock out for a while. Denver’s offense didn’t look that bad with Driskel under center, so perhaps the Broncos can be competitive. We know that the public will be all over the Bucs in this one after Tampa looked good last week in a win over Carolina. The Broncos could become a regular in this column if they don’t turn things around soon. We’ll take the Broncos as an ugly dog.
