NFL Odds - Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers

NFL Odds - Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are off to a great start this season, and this time around it has been on the strength of their defense. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has usually been the one to carry the team throughout his career but Green Bay has been dominant on the other side of the ball. It will look for that pattern to continue next time out in a Week 4 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Both of these teams expect to be in the hunt for not only the playoffs but the NFC crown, and this is an important matchup for both sides. The current NFL odds have the Packers as the slight home favorites.

This NFL regular season game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers will be held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday, September 26th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on FOX.

Odds Analysis

The Eagles are listed as four-point underdogs in this matchup. The Packers are coming in at -200 favorites on the moneyline while Philadelphia is the +170 underdog. The scoring total is listed at 44.5 points for this matchup.

Last Time Out

The Eagles fell to 1-2 on the season with a 27-24 loss to the Lions in their most recent game. The Lions used a strong second quarter to take the lead and held off a late push by Philadelphia. Quarterback Carson Wentz was 19-of-36 passing for 259 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He found Nelson Agholor for a 2-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, and after a blocked field goal, the Eagles got the ball back with a chance to tie or win, but they ran out of time on the final possession.

The Packers improved to 3-0 on the season with a 27-16 victory over the Broncos on Sunday. Defensive linemen Preston Smith had three sacks and Z’Darius Smith added a pair to lead Green Bay to another sterling defensive performance. Green Bay didn’t move the ball that well on offense but did enough to hold off a Denver team that lacks high end talent at most positions.

Player to Watch

Aaron Rodgers -- Green Bay has been doing well thus far but in order to reach its ceiling, their star quarterback needs to get the offense clicking. Rodgers has only thrown for 647 yards and four touchdowns in three games this season. He has yet to throw an interception and is doing a nice job of avoiding putting his defense in a hole, but it’s surprising that the passing game has not started to click.

Rodgers developed a nice chemistry with Marquez Valdes-Scantling last week and has Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham as targets, too, so there are weapons with which to work. Rodgers’ arm strength does not look the same as it was in his prime but he is still one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

NFL Pick

The Eagles have a good team and they were without DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery last week due to injury, which contributed to the loss. If one or both of them is out, it will hurt this team against the Packers. Even so, the offense has enough weapons to finally be someone that gets the Packers’ defense off-balance. The Eagles are too big of underdogs in this one. They have the better offense and will show it despite the road location. Take Philadelphia on the moneyline to maximize the wager.

NFL Pick: Philadelphia Eagles 26, Green Bay Packers 23
