Cowboys at Eagles SNF Week 6 Betting

First place in the NFC East is up for grabs on Sunday night when the Philadelphia Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys. Philadelphia is the last unbeaten team left in the NFL, while Dallas has won four in a row after losing its season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Cowboys are holding out some hope that Dak Prescott will be able to start for the first time in over a month, but Cooper Rush is likely to be the starting quarterback for the fifth consecutive game.

The Philadelphia Eagles will look to go into their bye week at 6-0, but the Dallas Cowboys are standing in their way. These NFC East rivals will meet on Sunday Night Football on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Odds Analysis

We saw some action on Dalla earlier in the week when there was more optimism that Dak Prescott was going to suit up. However, that optimism has faded, and the Dallas money has abated, leading to Philadelphia becoming a sizeable home favorite by the NFL betting odds once more. The total has fallen precipitously over the last several days though, as this over/under was originally 45.5 points early in the week.

Dallas Cowboys

Cooper Rush has done all you can ask a backup quarterback to do since replacing the injured Dak Prescott. Rush has completed 61% of his passes for 839 yards (7.1 YPA) with four touchdowns, and he has not committed a single turnover. The passing game isn’t as explosive with Rush under center, and CeeDee Lamb hasn’t been as effective, but the Cowboys have ground out wins with a solid run game and an excellent defense.

Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard have been able to move the chains for Dallas this season. Elliott has run for 305 yards while averaging 3.8 YPC, and Pollard has run for 248 yards while averaging 5.6 YPC. The offensive line has been better than expected with Tyron Smith out, and they have only allowed five sacks over the last four games.

Dallas has been superb on defense this season. The Cowboys are ranked third in scoring defense and seventh in total defense, and they have been at their best when opponents are in passing situations. Micah Parsons has been a total disruptor with six sacks and seven tackles for loss, and defensive ends Dorance Armstrong and DeMarcus Lawrence have teamed up for seven sacks between them. Trevon Diggs isn’t afraid to jump routes either, making it dangerous to have to play from behind against the Cowboys.

Philadelphia Eagles

Nick Sirianni is currently the favorite to be named NFL Coach of the Year. The Eagles are 5-0, and all of their offseason moves seem to be paying off. Jalen Hurts is completing 67.9% of his passes for 1,359 yards (8.5 YPA) with four touchdowns and two interceptions, and he is the second-best quarterback in the league when it comes to picking up yards with his legs behind Lamar Jackson. A.J. Brown has been an excellent acquisition, and he currently leads the team with 28 catches for 436 yards and a touchdown.

Miles Sanders is one of the best running backs in the league, and he has accumulated 455 total yards from scrimmage. He is averaging 4.8 YPC with three touchdowns through five games. DeVonta Smith has come alive after not recording a catch in Week 1, and tight end Dallas Goedert might be on his way to the Pro Bowl, as he is on pace for a 1,000-yard season.

Philadelphia ranks fourth in total defense and third in yards per play. The Eagles have done a great job of shutting down opposing quarterbacks as this secondary has been excellent after adding C.J Gardner-Johnson and James Bradberry. They can get after the quarterback too with one of the NFL’s best pass rushes, but the run defense has had some issues at times.

Cowboys at Eagles Free Pick

The total has moved three points, but Under is still the right call. These defenses are superb, and both offenses will have trouble scoring. Additionally, Philly is the team to back if Rush is starting, because this offense has been pretty limited while he has been under center.
