The Washington Huskies suffered blow after blow in the offseason, the biggest of which was losing quarterback Cyler Miles to a sudden retirement. Now, they have to head to the Smurf Turf to take on the Boise State Broncos in the first return to Idaho for Petersen since he left the job which made him famous.... 

The MEAC and the SWAC have a new tradition in which two of their teams will play against each other to kick off the season in Orlando.This year, the Arkansas Pine Bluff Lions and the South Carolina State Bulldogs will be the teams doing the honors in the Sunshine State.... 

These two teams last met back in 2012 with Purdue taking the game 51-41, though Marshall beat the spread. The Thundering Herd get to host the game this time around and based on last year have a huge edge. The team is coming off a great year while Purdue managed just three wins and were outscored 32-24.... 

Any time you've got a coach which goes 4-20 in his first two seasons at the helm, you have to be wary that there's a seat which is a tad on the warm side. That's what Todd Monken faces in his third year with the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, a season which starts at home against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.... 

The world will be introduced to one of the nation's most talented and sought-after recruits on Saturday when the UCLA Bruins debut freshman Josh Rosen against the Virginia Cavaliers.... 

The ACC made some huge strides last season knocking off the SEC time after time in their annual meetings at the end of the year. Now, we have another case where an ACC team is getting little respect against one of the members of the seemingly more talented SEC.The Louisville Cardinals though, are no joke whatsoever heading into their opening game against the Auburn Tigers.... 

Once again the expectations are as high as the preseason ranking for Notre Dame, which begins the year ranked 11th in the AP Poll. Not so much for Texas following a disappointing 2014 in coach Charlie Strong’s first season. If Texas can pull off the upset, then all of a sudden the Big 12 might not be all about TCU and Baylor this year. The Irish have a history of not living up to its preseason hype. Could 2015 be another one of those years?... 

The last time Brian Kelly had this talented of a team on his roster, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish played for the National Championship. Getting to the second College Football Playoff isn't out of the question this year for the Golden Domers either, but they'll have to get past the Texas Longhorns first to open up the year.... 

The No. 1 team in the land and defending national champions open the season against the team that nearly made the title impossible. Ohio State was caught in a bad place last year and was embarrassed in the Horseshoe. Don’t expect that to happen this season. The Buckeyes visit Virginia Tech on Monday with revenge on their mind when the teams open their season on ESPN.... 

USC has gotten the royal treatment this summer. Mentioned in national championship talk the Trojans are a stacked team and now get a chance to live up to the hype. It’s also a chance to talk about something other than head coach Steve Sarkisian’s poor judgment. Cody Kessler also gets a head start in the Heisman race facing Arkansas State in the opener Saturday night. A favorite out of the Sun Belt Conference, the Red Wolves will take their lumps but will be battle-tested once conference play beg... 

After having their seasons end by the same opponent in 2014, the Wisconsin Badgers and Alabama Crimson Tide meet in the marquee matchup of the opening weekend of college football. Both teams enter ranked in the top 20 with Bama at No. 3, but both are faced with a number of questions, particularly on offense. With a pair of stout defenses, the under is gaining traction.... 

The BYU Cougars were once a 4-0 team ranked in the Top 20 in America in 2014. They finished out the season in poor form when they lost Taysom Hill to a broken leg.It's tricky to wager on or against the Cougs at this point without seeing him play since the injury, but bettors will get a chance to do some damage in live betting on Saturday if he is right against th Nebraska Cornhuskers.... 

Arizona State and Texas AM made over bettors plenty of coin last season with their explosive offenses. The Sun Devils ended 2014 with a 4-1 run on the total while the Aggies cashed the over in three of their final four to close the season. So the defenses better be ready when these schools meet for the first time ever, playing on a neutral field in Houston on Saturday.... 

We’ve all seen it time and time again. A ranked team an underdog to an unranked team, usually on the road. It isn't actually this way, but it feels like at least 90 percent of the time, the favored unranked team ends up on top, sometimes by a really comfortable margin.Clearly, live bettors should know that the Arizona State Sun Devils are on "upset alert" even though they are underdogs against the Texas A&M Aggies in Houston on Saturday night.... 

The college football season is officially upon us! It's really tough to want to bet on teams which are 35-point underdogs regardless as to whether we are talking about regular spread betting or live betting.In this case though, taking the SMU Mustangs and all of those points against the Baylor Bears on the opening Friday of the season might be a good, albeit an incredibly brave idea.... 

For the first time in program history, the 13th ranked Bruins will open with a true freshman quarterback when Josh Rosen gets the call for Saturday’s game against Virginia. Rosen could be the missing link for Jim Mora’s squad, which has enough proven talent to win the Pac-12. If he is, we may have the Bruins playing home games in the Rosen Bowl for a few years.... 

An impressive run at the end of last season saved an otherwise lost season for Stanford. The Cardinal won its final three games to go 8-5, ending a run of four consecutive double-digit win seasons. The 21st-ranked Cardinal begins its march back to prominence Saturday at Northwestern in the first meeting between the schools in 21 years.... 

Every now and again, you have to make the play which makes all the sense in the world in spite of the fact that you just know that it is a square play. We might be in that situation on the opening night of the college football season when the TCU Horned Frogs lay a relatively sensible 17 points on the road against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.... 

Injuries are a part of sports, but more so maybe in football than any other. Heading into Week 1 of the season, there are a number of teams coping with massive injuries, and how they react to those injuries will help determine whether these clubs will or will not cover the spread on a weekly basis.... 

Alabama opens the season ranked No. 3 in the nation which is quite lofty considering they return just 10 players and start a new starting quarterback yet to be determined.The Crimson Tide also play one of the very toughest schedules in the county, and it starts with Wisconsin. The Badgers are top-20 to start the season and have a new yet familiar head coach, but the Badgers should be a formidable foe for ‘Bama.... 

Louisville has a chance to make a statement in its opener, for itself and the ACC. Coach Bobby Petrino has started strong in his second go around with the program, winning nine games last season and improving the overall collection of talent. With an upset of Auburn Saturday on CBS in a neutral site matchup, the Cardinals will send a strong message that Florida State and Clemson will have company in the ACC title chase.... 

The student gets a chance to school the teacher when the Boise State Broncos host the Washington Huskies on ESPN Friday.Washington coach Chris Petersen is back in Boise, where he became an icon of the sport for eight seasons, posting a 92-12 record with four top-10 finishes. He’ll face his former assistant Bryan Harsin, who has the Broncos ranked 23rd and the favorite to be the non-Power 5 conference team to play in a New Years Six bowl.... 

Baylor’s potent offense will have a new director in Seth Russell, but the production shouldn’t slack with a pair of 1,000-yard receivers. Running back Shock Linwood, who gained over 1,200 yards, also returns to operate behind an O-line that is intact.The Bears have won 11 straight over SMU, covering the spread in the last five.... 

One of the reasons Nebraska fired Bo Pelini last December was because his teams “weren’t good enough in the games that mattered”, according to the school’s athletic director.

The Cornhuskers aren’t going to waste any time seeing if Mike Riley can succeed, as they hope to extend their FBS best season-opening win streak to 30 games Saturday when they play BYU for the first time.... 

For the second time in the last three seasons, the North Carolina Tar Heels and the South Carolina Gamecocks will open up the season against each other. Back in 2013 though, these two played at Williams Brice Stadium, and the Heels were given little chance to succeed. This year at a neutral site, many are giving UNC a shot at a big upset....
