The spread has flip flopped as No. 6 Notre Dame is now a 1-point favorite at No. 12 Clemson, but the Tigers are 28-2 straight up in their last 30 home games and Death Valley will be very difficult for the Irish to get out of unscathed....
Can Auburn really be this bad? The Tigers’ shaky play has the natives panicking and the San Jose State Spartans ready to pounce for the biggest win in program history. The Spartans watched FCS Jacksonville State come into Jordan-Hare and nearly escape with a win before falling in overtime. The Tigers struggled in their last two games, prompting a quarterback change. Auburn is laying three touchdowns, which is a lot of points against a decent Spartans squad, and is 0-9 ATS in its last nine games....
Clemson gets its first test of the season and puts the No. 12 ranking on the line against undefeated and sixth-ranked Notre Dame on Saturday. Despite being ravaged by injuries, the Irish continue to win games, but will face a challenge in Death Valley. Clemson is 41-6 at home in seven seasons under coach Dabo Swinney and have won 11 straight, going 8-3 ATS in that stretch. The Irish are just 2-5 under coach Brian Kelly on the road against ranked teams....
The No. 14 Texas AM Aggies kick off a three-game SEC West gauntlet by hosting the No. 21 Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday. The Bulldogs got their season back on track with a crucial road win at Auburn last week and go for their second straight win over the Aggies. Texas AM opened last season with five straight wins before a loss at Mississippi State started a three-game slide that included defeats to their next two opponents....
Jim McElwain has already seemed to take the Florida Gators in the right direction his first season on the job in Gainesville. Beating Tennessee last week was nice, but if the orange and blue are going to get back to their championship form, they need to prove they can beat teams like the Ole Miss Rebels....
The Wolverines and Terrapins are entering this game heading in very different directions. Michigan is fresh off a blowout win over BYU while Maryland was blown out by West Virginia. The Terps return home while the Wolverines hit the road, that should even things up a bit, but maybe not enough to make much of a difference....
There’s much anticipation for the Georgia versus Alabama match-up this Saturday. Alabama has not been a regular season road underdog since 2008, and now they enter catching 2.5 points against the ‘Dawgs....
Remember when Bret Bielema opened up his mouth about Ohio State's schedule? At least the Buckeyes are winning games. Ever since Bielema's snide comments, the Razorbacks are 0-3, and all of a sudden, they are very likely not going to make it to a bowl game. It's starting to look highly unlikely that they stand any chance in their first legit road game of the year at the Tennessee Volunteers....
Michigan State continues to sit second in the AP Top-25 behind Ohio State. They remain undefeated SU, but have yet to come through the spread with them overinflated due to their ranking and strong play. Bettors siding with Purdue in this one will try to be the latest to take advantage of that trend....

The Tigers and their powder keg offense visit the USF Bulls in an NFL stadium on Friday, which is only fitting because that’s where Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch will be working real soon. The Tigers have won 11 straight games and better not overlook the Bulls with No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels on the schedule in two weeks....
Nippert Stadium is expected to be blacked out for Thursday’s game, but the Hurricanes are likely to throw the knockout punch. Cincinnati will turn to a freshman quarterback for his first career start after Gunner Kiel got knocked out of last week’s game. The Bearcats’ fast-paced offense and matador defense has led to them cashing the over in all four games while Miami looks to stay undefeated before heading into ACC play....
The Seminoles have gotten rather positive results so far from Everett Golson and the remade Florida State offense, but the defense was the star in their last game, holding Boston College scoreless. Given the recent past, the Seminoles defense is in for another big game against Wake Forest....
UCLA is up to No. 7 in the current Associated Press polls, and the Bruins are expected to keep rolling. The two most recent meetings between UCLA and Arizona State saw 71 and 89 points scored, and it looks like Arizona State is going to have trouble slowing the Bruins attack once again this season....

Things are about to get a little more difficult for the Utah Utes. After finishing an undefeated non-conference schedule, the No. 18 Utes earned their highest ranking since 2010 and open Pac-12 play at defending conference champion and No. 13 Oregon. It might be anyone’s guess which quarterbacks start, as the Ducks’ Vernon Adams Jr. has a busted finger and Utah’s Travis Wilson a bum shoulder. Either way it should be a good one as Utah goes for its first win over Oregon since joining the Pac-12....
All the preseason talk about this being the year USC climbs back to prominence in college football was muzzled by Stanford last week. And if it seems like coach Steve Sarkisian is feeling the heat today, he’ll be standing in front of a flame thrower if the Trojans start the year 0-2 in Pac-12 play. The Sun Devils were overrated at the start of the year and fell out of the rankings after a blowout loss to Texas AM in the opener, but they are always ready to take on the Men of Troy....
An early season battle for supremacy in the Pac-12 South takes place in Tucson when the UCLA Bruins visit Arizona. The Wildcats are hopeful this is the year coach Rich Rodriguez solves the Jim Mora Jr. puzzle and leads his team to a victory. Three weeks ago the roles were reversed, when the Hogs were No. 18 in the AP Poll and the Aggies were on the outside looking in.But back-to-back home losses as double-digit chalk dropped Arkansas from the rankings while AM entered following a huge win over Arizona State. Regardless, it’s the start of a new season once the SEC bell rings....
In what amounts to an elimination game in the SEC West, the Auburn Tigers made a stunning announcement and will start redshirt freshman Sean White at quarterback in an attempt to jumpstart a slumbering offense. It won’t matter much if the Tigers are unable to slow down Dak Prescott and the Mississippi State Bulldogs.The Tigers have allowed over 400 yards of offense in all three games and fell out of the rankings with a thumping at LSU last week. The Bulldogs won last year’s meeting in Starkville, but have dropped three straight and six of seven at Auburn....
Week 3 in the Big Ten was up and down. Northwestern upset Duke, but Nebraska lost to Miami, Florida. Overall the conference went 9-3. The Big Ten continues to struggle in the marquee matchups. The grade for the week is a C+. Luckily, conference play starts next week....
