The Colorado State Rams continue to shine under former SEC assistants. The program started to turn a corner when Jim McElwain was hired to take over in Fort Collins a half-decade ago, and the trend continued when the Rams brought in Mike Bobo. Bobo has the Rams looking like one of the best teams in the Mountain West in his third season on the job, with an offense that is firing on all cylinders. On Friday night, they will be taking on an offense that is struggling to find an identity in the New Mexico Lobos.... 

Phillip Fulmer coached over 200 Tennessee Volunteers games. Never once was he a 33-point underdog in a game against anyone in America. Alas, that's the fate the Vols are going to have to deal with this Saturday in a game they aren't expected to be competitive in against the No. 1 team in the land, the Alabama Crimson Tide.... 

Bill Snyder was always a thorn in the side of Bob Stoops. His Kansas State Wildcats hold two major upsets over the Oklahoma Sooners since 2012. Lincoln Riley is going to hope to avoid the same fate as his predecessor when he takes his Sooners to the "Little Apple" on Saturday afternoon.... 

The Marshall Thundering Herd are back. Just one season after a stunning 3-9 effort, Marshall is atop the Conference USA East Division and looking like the team to beat yet again. The Thundering Herd will face a tough test when they take on the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders this Friday night. MTSU was able to go into Syracuse and walk out with a win earlier in the year, and has been a very game team at home. The Blue Raiders are sitting at 3-4 and need this win to feel good about bowl eligibility.... 

If the Michigan Wolverines are going to have any say so in the National Championship chase, they don't have any choice but to beat the Penn State Nittany Lions on the road in Happy Valley. PSU's National Championship hopes were ultimately dashed last year when they were beaten by 39 at the Big House, and James Franklin's crew is going to hope to avoid the same fate in 2017.... 

The nascent rivalry between the Memphis Tigers and the Houston Cougars has been one of the best young rivalries among Group of Five teams. These have been two of the top three teams in the AAC West over the last few years, and the road to the West has typically gone through one of these schools. This year, both teams are 2-1 in conference, and Memphis is in the driver’s seat for the AAC West crown after knocking off Navy last week. Yet the Cougars are short favorites and many are picking them to pull off the upset.... 

This Saturday’s ACC tilt is a tough one to decipher with both the Syracuse Orange and Miami Hurricanes each in major letdown spots after coming up with huge wins last time out. Cuse shocked the world by ousting No. 2 ranked Clemson 27-24 as enormous 24-point underdogs. The Canes pulled out an exhilarating 25-24 last second win over Georgia Tech to remain undefeated. Something will have to give when these programs lock horns Saturday afternoon.... 

Gus Malzahn did himself absolutely no favors watching his Auburn Tigers cough up a 9-point halftime lead in Baton Rouge last week. The fact they went scoreless for the second half’s entirety made the 27-23 defeat that much tougher to stomach. They’ll look to get healthy this week against an Arkansas Razorbacks squad that currently brings up the rear of the SEC West after dropping an ugly 41-9 decision to the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa last week.... 

The Washington State Cougars put forth one of the biggest duds of the season last Friday night in Berkeley where they got woodshedded by the Golden Bears 37-3 as 16-point road chalk. The Colorado Buffaloes just logged their first Pac-12 win of the season in Corvalis where they escaped with a 36-33 win and non-cover against the Beavers. The sailing won’t be nearly as smooth in this trip to Pullman where the Buffs were held to three points in their last visit.... 

The Kansas Jayhawks have amassed a grand total of two Big 12 wins dating back to the 2014 season. Their first of the 2017 season looks highly unlikely heading into Week 8 with a matchup against the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs set to go down in Fort Worth. Off a solid 26-6 win and cover in Manhattan, the heavily favored Horny Toads return home to face a KU squad they took lightly last season and barely won.... 

The Miami Hurricanes finally got the monkey off their back. This program had lived its own Groundhog Day over the last few seasons. Miami started the season strong, than played Florida State, lost in heartbreaking fashion, and went into a funk afterwards. Miami turned a corner by finally knocking off Florida State thanks to a last second miracle of its own and now optimism around campus is sky high. The Hurricanes will look to keep the good vibes going this week when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come to town in what may be a battle between the two best teams in the ACC Coastal.This matchup in Week 7 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The South Florida Bulls have put a slow start behind them and have looked very good over the last few weeks. South Florida struggled to put away both San Jose State and Stony Brook, but is humming under new head coach Charlie Strong. The Bulls have waxed three straight opponents and are on a collision course to battle UCF for the AAC East title. Oddsmakers are expecting another big performance from South Florida on Saturday night, when it hosts the Cincinnati Bearcats.This matchup in Week 7 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Lamar Jackson continues to make the Louisville Cardinals a very dangerous team. Although he isn’t getting much love for the Heisman Trophy after winning it last year, Jackson has kept on torching defenses as a dual-threat quarterback. Louisville doesn’t have a chance to win the ACC Atlantic anymore after losses to North Carolina State and Clemson, but the Cardinals do have a legitimate chance to run the table the rest of the way. The Oklahoma State Cowboys are looking to make amends to their fans after their performance in their last home game. Oklahoma State was a double-digit favorite against TCU, but ended up seeing its undefeated season fall by the wayside in a 44-31 loss. The last time we saw the Cowboys, they were struggling against a Texas Tech team that gave them all they could ask for. This week's game against the Baylor Bears should be a much easier affair.This matchup in Week 7 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This game will be broadcast on FS1.... 

Although the LSU Tigers have not had a great season, they still have plenty of fight in them. Just ask Florida. One week after losing to Troy at home, LSU went into Gainesville and knocked off Florida in a slugfest that gave head coach Ed Orgeron some job security. Orgeron still has a long way to go in order to be off the hot seat, but another win this week would go a long way for him. Beating the Auburn Tigers is a tough task though. Auburn has been humming in recent weeks and will be ready for LSU’s defense.This matchup in Week 7 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017,at 3:30 p.m. ET at Tiger Stadium. The Volunteers are 3-2 on the season and are on pace to make a bowl game. Their chances will be greatly raised with a win over South Carolina, but this one could be close. The Gamecocks are 4-2 this season and would love to claim this road win, and they will lean on the defense to have their chance.This contest in Week 7 of the regular season will go down Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 12 p.m. ET at Neyland Stadium.... 

Indiana isn’t as talented but does get to play this game at home. The Hoosiers’ defense will look to take advantage of an uncertain quarterback situation for Michigan. An upset here would be a great win for Indiana and a devastating one for the Wolverines, although it will take a lot of things to go right for Indiana for it to happen.This contest in Week 7 of the regular season will go down Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 12 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium.... 

Florida State has the more talented team and should win this game, but it’s fair to wonder where the Seminoles are mentally at this point. Duke had some nice wins early on but hasn’t played as well of late. The Blue Devils could get a huge boost in their hopes of making a bowl game by capturing this victory.This contest in Week 7 of the regular season will go down Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 12 p.m. ET at Wallace Wade Stadium.... 

The Broncos have long been the heavyweight in the Mountain West but San Diego State is gunning for that crown in 2017. The Aztecs have the home field advantage in this one and the superior team, and therefore is the favorite to take care of business.However, it would be silly to count out a Boise State program that has a ton of big-game experience and will no doubt be ready to play in this showdown.... 

Since dropping back-to-back matchups against USC and San Diego State, the Stanford Cardinal bounced back in a big way with three straight wins in conference play. They’ll return home off a solid showing in Salt Lake City looking to turn its attention to Pac-12 North play versus the struggling Oregon Ducks. Willie Taggart’s squad just got its lunch served at home by Wazzu in the second half, and will head into this game without the services of Justin Herbert.... 

A big one is set to go down in the Pac-12 South on Saturday night when the UCLA Bruins and Arizona Wildcats go at one another in hopes of logging their second conference win of the season. Jim Mora’s kids will have had a couple weeks to get prepared for this one, so a much better effort is expected than the one put forth at Stanford in their Pac-12 road opener. Arizona will enter with confidence after going into Boulder and shocking the Buffaloes as 7-point underdogs.... 

Off an impressive 65-19 thrashing of Kansas as 14.5-point road chalk, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will stay on the road and head to Morgantown for a premiere Big 12 showdown with the West Virginia Mountaineers. Dana Holgorsen’s kids represented well in Ft. Worth by giving No. 6 ranked TCU a major run for their money. At 1-1 within the conference, a win is crucial for the Mounty’s if they have any plans of heading to Big D to participate in the conference title game.... 

Fresh off a tough home defeat to the LSU Tigers, the Florida Gators will once again play outside of the division on Saturday when they welcome in the Texas A&M Aggies. This will be Kevin Sumlin’s troops first appearance in “The Swamp” since joining the SEC years back. These teams have only met once in SEC play dating back to 2012 when the Gators beat the Aggies 20-17 as 1-point dogs in front of the 12^th Man.... 

The Ohio State Buckeyes are at it again. After an early season loss, Ohio State has now won four straight games by at least 30 points and crushed Rutgers and Maryland in consecutive weeks. This is a pattern for Ohio State at this point, who has done this for the past four years now. The Buckeyes will now head on the road for what seemed like a tough test at the start of the season. However, disaster has struck for the Nebraska Cornhuskers who might miss out on a bowl for the second time in three years under Mike Riley.... 

If you’ve paid any attention to the media, you would think that the Wisconsin Badgers have already wrapped up the Big Ten West. The Badgers are the only undefeated team left in the division, and traditional contenders Nebraska and Iowa don’t look good through the first half of the season. However, there is one other team that is being overlooked, the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue looks reinvigorated under new head coach Jeff Brohm and can put itself in the driver’s seat in the Big Ten with a win over Wisconsin on Saturday. Winning in Madison would be a tall task, but this team might just be game for it....
