Today, we'll take a look at Colombia and its odds of winning this top South American competition.
Group A is a dangerous place to be in Copa America, and it's most treacherous for Colombia. Not only will Los Cafeteros have to deal with the United States in their opening match of the tournament, but if they lose that match and still survive for a spot in the last eight, their reward is going to be a duel with Brazil. No one is doubting that Colombia has a fantastic team, but is this schedule just setup to be way too difficult for it?

COLOMBIA PROFILE
Odds To Win Copa America: +1000
Team Nickname: Los Cafeteros
Head Coach: Jose Pekerman
FIFA World Ranking: 4
HOW THEY GOT HERE
Colombia was an automatic participant in Copa America as one of the 10 CONMEBOL teams, and it's really tough to argue with anything it has done over the course of the last several years. Back in 2012, Los Cafeteros really started to take a turn in the right direction. They won seven of their nine matches on the year, and that set the stage for a nice run in the World Cup in 2014.
The Colombians were only beaten twice that year, both times by Brazil. The 2-1 loss in the quarterfinals of the World Cup was the one which really stung, but it was always going to be hard to beat one of the best sides in the world on its home grounds in Fortaleza.
Last year wasn't fantastic for the Colombians. They were knocked out of Copa America 2015 in the quarterfinals by Argentina after drawing against Peru and losing unexpectedly to Venezuela in the knockout rounds.
Since that point, Colombia has been beaten by Uruguay and Argentina to go with draws against Peru and Chile. The start of 2016 has gone well with victories over Bolivia and Ecuador, but there's clearly work to do to succeed here in the 100-year anniversary of Copa America.
KEY PLAYERS
It's not often that the captain of your national team is just 24 years old, but it's tough to say that James Rodriguez hasn't earned that right. He made a name for himself in the World Cup two years ago when he really took over for Los Cafeteros, and he now has 14 goals in 24 matches for his nation. He was picked up by Real Madrid and has had a huge impact on its roster at the club level as well.
Colombia doesn't always show a lot of creativity up front, but Rodriguez is really the exception to the rule. He's the consummate attacking midfielder, and he's as innovative as it gets at this level when he's on the ball.
Keep an eye on Carlos Bacca as well. Bacca isn't quite as internationally renowned as Rodriguez is, but he has 11 goals in 27 games for the Colombians, including three in his last two matches.
COPA AMERICA ODDS ANALYSIS AND QUICK PICK
Colombia has a real opportunity here to shine in Copa America, and we think it's going to be in for a really nice run regardless as to whether it beats out the United States in Group A or not. Costa Rica and Paraguay probably won't provide much of a challenge to one of the up and coming teams in the game, and that'll at least be good enough to get into the knockout rounds.
From there, if the matchup is coming against Brazil, we expect to see the Colombians put up a real fight. This could be their time.
Don't be stunned if Colombia avenges the loss to the Brazilians in Copa America to get into the last four. We aren't sure the Colombians will win this tournament, but we do think they've got a path ready to be paved into the final if they can tighten up their defense just a bit and hold foes under an average of a goal per game. This price of 10 to 1 is a gamble knowing that the Colombians are favored to face Brazil in the first knockout round and will be dogs if they're stuck in that match, but this might be their time to shine in Copa America Centenario.
