Today, we'll take a look at Chile and its odds of winning this top South American competition.

Back-to-back champions of Copa America are tough to come by. Brazil has done it recently, winning four out of five Copa Americas between 1997 and 2007, while Argentina was the winner of this event in 1991 and 1993. The likelihood of Chile being the next to pull off the feat feels like it should be small, but when you look at this roster and look at the price of just 8 to 1 on it to win it all, you have to at least raise your eyebrow a bit.

CHILE PROFILE

Odds To Win Copa America: +800

Team Nickname: La Roja

Head Coach: Juan Antonio Pizzi

FIFA World Ranking: 3

HOW THEY GOT HERE

We know better than Chile really isn't the third best team in the world right now, but winning a tournament like Copa America last year really did the trick to bolster that ranking.

As one of the 10 CONMBEOL teams, Chile was granted immediate access to this tournament, but what's most impressive is the fact that it has already qualified for the 2017 Confederations Cup, essentially the dry run tournament for the World Cup in Russia.

Chile still hasn't nearly punched its ticket to get into the World Cup yet, but it should end up getting there with relative ease. The bigger concern for now though, is finding a way to get past an interesting Group D in Copa America, something that isn't a given even though La Roja is only +800 to win this tournament and +165 to top the foursome.

KEY PLAYERS

Claudio Bravo might be the best player in the history of Chilean soccer. He's still playing at a high level at 33 years old for Barcelona in club play, and that's how you know you've got a superstar on your side. Bravo allowed just four goals in six matches in Copa America last year, and he was massive in the penalty shootout against Argentina in the final, turning away two shots to setup the victory for his homeland.

There should be plenty of offense here for Chile, too. Alexis Sanchez is a fantastic forward for Arsenal, though we're going to be concerned if he's forced to go at it alone at the top of a 4-5-1 or similar formation. Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal should get his nose in the offensive play for sure, as he has 15 goals in 74 appearances for his country and is routinely playing at the top of a diamond or in the middle of a five-man midfield.

COPA AMERICA ODDS ANALYSIS AND QUICK PICK

Chile has to be careful here not to look past Group D. That opening match against Argentina probably isn't going to go well, and at that point, any trip against either Panama or Bolivia could be a big problem. Could the champs really fail to get out of the group stage of the competition they won in such fine form last year? It's entirely possible.

We can really see Panama and Bolivia frustrating Chile by keeping the ball off of Sanchez's feet. If the ball isn't getting forward, it's going to be virtually impossible to get one home. It's probably only going to take one strike more often than not to give Chile a victory, as Bravo should again have a slew of clean sheets, but we think goals might end up being hard to come by if the effort isn't completely inspiring for La Roja.
