2026 FIFA World Cup Group E Odds and Preview

Group E isn’t expected to produce the 2026 World Cup winner with odds for the quartet sitting in the middle of the pack. If a team is to emerge as the title holder smart money is with Germany, an overwhelming favorite to win Group E and advance to the knockout stage. A power on the international stage, Germany has appeared in the final match a record eight times with the last of their four titles coming in 2014. The Germans have not moved out of the group stage in the past two World Cups.

There figures to be a race for second place between Ecuador and Ivory Coast, though both clubs have the ability to upset the favorite. The smallest country in both population and size to ever reach a World Cup, Curacao makes its tournament debut and is listed as a heavy underdog. Group play opens on June 14 with a huge match between Ecuador and Ivory Coast. Curacao plays its first ever World Cup match on the same day.

Odds to win Group E

Germany -322

Ecuador +406

Ivory Coast +726

Curacao +15309

After consecutive World Cup ousters in the group stage, Germany aims to restore its dominance on the international stage. They got a favorable draw with three inexperienced squads and are priced at +130 to win all three group matches. Ecuador saw its odds improve after a qualifying campaign that saw them concede just five goals in 18 matches. They finished ahead of heavyweights Brazil, Columbia and Uruguay in the qualifying standings. Ecuador is a strong contender to advance to the knockout stage automatically.

Odds for Group E teams to win World Cup

Germany +1500

Ecuador +11000

Ivory Coast +35000

Curacao +250000

If you’re going to back a club from Group E to win the 2026 World Cup you might as well just throw down on Germany. Listed at +1500 on the early World Cup futures odds, that price is slightly longer than backing Group E. And realistically the Germans are the only team with the talent and depth to compete for the title.

Group E Team Previews

Germany -322

Group play is a likely stepping stone for Germany. If they win as expected and gain more confidence into the knockout stage the Germans could be a force. They are motivated to make up for past World Cup performances. Using elite talent coach Julian Nagelsmann has transformed Germany with an explosive attack that makes them harder to defend. Serge Gnabry has been ruled out and there are concerns over the fitness of Jamal Musiala.

Group Match Schedule:

June 14: vs. Curacao, 1 p.m. ET, Houston, US

June 20: vs. Ivory Coast, 4 p.m. ET, Toronto, CN

June 25: vs. Ecuador, 4 p.m. ET, New York/New Jersey, US

Ecuador +406

A defense that suffocated opponents during the CONMEBOL qualifiers needs to be equally stingy for Ecuador to make a serious run. They surrendered just five goals in 18 qualifying matches but scored just 14 times in those matches, the fewest among qualifying teams. Moises Caicedo runs the team driving forward transitions, but relying on aging veteran Enner Valencia to provide a bulk of the offense isn’t ideal.

Group Match Schedule:

June 14: vs. Ivory Coast, 7 p.m. ET, Philadelphia, US

June 20: vs. Curacao, 8 p.m. ET, Kansas City, US

June 25: vs. Germany, 4 p.m. ET, New York/New Jersey, US

Ivory Coast +726

Back on the World Cup stage after a 12-year absence, Ivory Coast enters with real momentum. During its qualifying campaign the team scored 25 goals and conceded zero in 10 matches. As the midfield anchor Franck Kessie is at the center of everything the team does. Along with Amad Diallo and Evann Guessand the attacking depth makes Ivory Coast difficult to prepare for. This is a significant step up in competition from anything they face in qualifying.

Group Match Schedule:

June 14: vs. Ecuador, 7 p.m. ET, Philadelphia, US

June 20: vs. Germany, 4 p.m. ET, Toronto, CN

June 25: vs. Curacao, 4 p.m. ET, Philadelphia, US

Curacao +15309

Just qualifying for the World Cup makes Curacao one of sport’s great underdog stories. The club earned its way to the field, though, with seven wins and three draws in 10 CONCACAF matches. The team had a coaching change after qualifying with Fred Rutten taking over for Dick Advocaat, who resigned for personal reasons. There has been a change in leadership but the personnel, identity and fearless spirit remains.

Group Match Schedule:

June 14: vs. Germany, 1 p.m. ET, Houston, US

June 20: vs. Ecuador, 8 p.m. ET, Kansas City, US

June 25: vs. Ivory Coast, 4 p.m. ET, Philadelphia, US
