A five-time champion, Brazil is the overwhelming favorite to win Group C and advance to the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup. Brazil has a rich history in international competition and has played in every World Cup. However, the last of their record five World Cup championships was back in 2002 and Brazil hasn’t moved past the quarterfinal round since that last tournament victory. Getting beyond the group stage shouldn’t be a problem for the Brazilians, but adding to their record number of World Cup titles will be more of a challenge.
Morocco is viewed as the clear second choice in the group with Scotland and Haiti left to battle for a potential wild card slot in the new 48-team format. The Moroccans went undefeated and didn’t concede a goal in recent World Cup qualifying matches. They also won the FIFA Arab Cup in December and were awarded the Africa Cup of Nations title in January after Senegal forfeited the match they originally won. Haiti is competing for the first time since it was one of 16 teams in the 1974 World Cup.

Odds to win Group C
Brazil -550
Morocco +500
Scotland +1400
Haiti +12000
While Brazil is a big negative odds favorite on the early World Cup betting board to win Group C, they had a more difficult time than usual leading up to the competition. Brazil finished fifth in the 10-team South American qualifying standings and if not for the expanded format Brazil could have faced a much more difficult path via the intercontinental playoffs. From a talent standpoint, though, the Brazilians are easily the top of the group. Many experts believe Morocco is better than the 2022 club that reached the semifinals, and they are on a tremendous run. We’ll get an idea of how the group plays out with Brazil and Morocco facing each other in the first match on June 13.

Odds for Group C teams to win World Cup
Brazil +870
Morocco +6000
Scotland +25000
Haiti +300000
Brazil is consider a strong contender to win its sixth World Cup as one of five teams on the early betting board with shorter than 10/1 odds. They boast elite talent and are in a relatively easy group. Carlo Ancelotti was hired last June in a move to bolster the team’s discipline, particularly on defense, to complement Brazil’s offensive talent. Not viewed as a championship threat, recent form and a 2022 semifinal appearance moved Morocco into the second tier of World Cup favorites.
Group C Team Previews
Brazil -550
Brazil is in a bit of a transition with young attackers like Vinicius Junior ready to take the controls. He’ll need to supply some offense with Neymar and Rodrygo expected to miss the World Cup. Not only are the Brazilians transitioning personnel, they have also changed tactics under Ancelotti to more of a structured defense due to the lack of a world class striker. The abundance of overall talent will be enough in the group stage, but Brazil is aiming higher.

Morocco +500
Not many teams have been as successful as Morocco over the last year. And the club has been on a heater since its historic run to the 2022 World Cup semifinals. Incorporating young talent with a veteran core has many pundits believing this team is deeper and better than the 2022 version. The Moroccans also made a change just last month naming Mohamed Ouahbi as head coach. For years he worked with Morocco’s U20 club developing top flight talent he will manage on the biggest stage.

Scotland +1400
A confident group after qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in dramatic style by beating a UEFA group that included Denmark and Greece, the Scots will likely battle Morocco for second in the group. Realistically they have little chance of winning the title, but advancing past the group stage for the first time in nine tries would be a win. Scott McTominay is a key player after winning Serie A MVP with Napoli.
Group Match Schedule:

June 19: vs. Morocco, 6 p.m. ET, Foxboro, US
June 24: vs. Brazil, 6 p.m. ET, Miami, US
Haiti +12000
A remarkable run of three wins and two draws in six recent qualifying matches gives Haiti a jolt of confidence. Doing that without playing a match on home soil also shows how resilient the club is. The addition of Wilson Isidor to play alongside Duckens Nazon is a huge boost for the attack, but inconsistency of defense and a lack of depth will be concerns against top-flight competition.
