Champions League Final - Liverpool vs. Tottenham Hotspur

For just the second time ever, we are set to have an all-English Champions League Final. Tottenham Hotspur are looking to win their first Champions League title. It’s been an incredible season for Spurs. They finished the year with 70 points or more for the fourth straight season, and Spurs will now get the chance to win their first European trophy since winning the UEFA Cup in 1984. As for Liverpool, the Reds are looking to win their sixth Champions League title and claim some hardware after finishing just short of Manchester City in the Premier League. A Liverpool win would make them the third-most successful club in the history of the Champions League.

Don’t miss the Champions League Final from the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Catch every moment of the match live on TNT and Univision.

Odds Analysis

Both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur narrowly made it out of the Group Stage, but they were able to come through when it mattered the most in order to make the Champions League Final.

Liverpool failed to get a result in any of their three road games in the Group Stage. Napoli nearly edged them out to make it to the knockout rounds, but the Reds triumphed on the last day to advance. From there, they were able to top Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 before hammering Porto in the Quarterfinals. Things looked bleak for Liverpool after a 3-0 loss to Barcelona at Camp Nou in the first leg of the semifinals, but they managed to overcome that defeat to get to the finals.

Spurs appeared unlikely to make it out of the Group Stage after securing a single point in their first three matches, but they managed to rally and got some help to make the knockout rounds. They crushed Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 and then stunned Manchester City by sending the Citizens out in the Quarterfinals. Their hopes of advancing to the final looked bleak after Ajax jumped ahead in the second leg, but Lucas Moura scored at the death to send Tottenham to Madrid.

Key Injuries

Naby Keita has been ruled out for this match because of a groin injury, and we may not see him in the Africa Cup of Nations later in the summer either. Roberto Firmino is considered probable to play for Liverpool, while Andrew Robertson has been declared match fit.

Mauricio Pochettino may have his full squad available for selection this Saturday. Tottenham recently received good news with regards to Harry Kane, Davinson Sanchez, Harry Winks, and Jan Vertonghen, and it looks like all four will be ready to play.

Matchup to Watch

Both teams are well-coached, daring sides that like to attack, so we could see a high scoring game. Liverpool boast two of the most prolific scorers in the Premier League in Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, and the interplay between the two has been key all year. In particular, Mane has improved a lot this season, and his finishing has been world-class. That could be a deciding factor here.

The return of Harry Kane would give Tottenham all their weapons for this one. Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min have done well in Kane’s absence, but Kane makes this attack terrifying with his ability to score from anywhere on the pitch.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

Liverpool won both previous meetings this season 2-1, but Roberto Firmino was the key in both wins. He notched a goal in both matches, and not having him at 100 percent doesn’t help.

The best bet in this game is the over. Not only have their been three goals scored in their two previous meetings, but three of the last four finals have had at least three goals scored in regulation as well.

For a side, I’ll go with Liverpool. I believe the Reds have more talent, and they have proven themselves against better competition than Tottenham this season.

Champions League Prediction: Liverpool 2, Tottenham Hotspur 1
