La Liga Betting Odds

It looks like Barcelona are set to win La Liga for the fourth time in five years. The Blaugrana are seven points up on second-place Atletico Madrid and a dozen points up on third-place Real Madrid with 12 games left to play. The real intrigue is when it comes to the battle for Spain’s final Champions League spot though. Currently, two teams that have never played in the Champions League (Getafe and Alaves) are in fourth and fifth place in the table, and they have the inside track on grabbing that spot. The middle of the table is incredibly clustered together though, and with just seven points separating 15th place Levante from 6th place Sevilla, there are still a dozen clubs that can make a run and nab Spain’s last spot in the Champions League.

March 8
Athletic Bilbao -114
Espanyol Barcelona +346
Draw +230
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

This game features two defensive minded teams trending in opposite directions. Espanyol have fallen off the pace after a strong start to the season, while Athletic Bilbao are surging after muddling in the relegation zone for the first half of the campaign. Bilbao are 6-4-2 in their last dozen games, and they have posted seven clean sheets and allowed just seven goals over that span. They are likely to get another win here with Espanyol dealing with numerous injuries and two suspensions.

March 9

FC Barcelona -550
Rayo Vallecano +1271
Draw +328
Over/Under 3.5

Atletico Madrid -216
CD Leganes +672
Draw +306
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

Getafe CF -161
SD Huesca +469
Draw +273
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

Deportivo Alaves +178
Eibar +165
Draw +209
Over/Under 2

Getafe have a golden opportunity to grab three more points at home against bottom of the table Huesca, but the visitors have had a knack for knocking down surging mid-table teams. Huesca defeated Eibar before their rise and smacked down Real Betis when they were in position for a spot in Europe too. Just last week, they beat then fifth-place Sevilla, so Getafe can’t take their foot off the gas pedal. Jaime Meta has been incredible lately with 10 goals and four assists over his last 13 matches, and Getafe will lean on him.

The match between Eibar and Alaves could have some pretty big ramifications too. Alaves are actually an underdog here despite playing at home, and that’s surprising since Eibar have been a much different team at home than they have been on the road. Eibar have the third-best record in La Liga at home and have scored 25 goals in 14 home games, but they have the worst road mark in the league with a 1-5-6 record on the road. Needless to say, I love Eibar in this spot.

March 10

Sevilla FC -151
Real Sociedad +375
Draw +302
Over/Under 2.5 and 3

Girona +209
Valencia +137
Draw +219
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

UD Levante +175
Villarreal +147
Draw +243
Over/Under 2.5 and 3

Celta Vigo +140
Real Betis +198
Draw +225
Over/Under 2 and 2.5

Real Valladolid +496
Real Madrid -211
Draw +373
Over/Under 3 and 3.5

If Sevilla are going to rally and make the Champions League, they need to stop their freefall. They were leading the league two months into the season, but they have not won a La Liga match since late January, and they are now five points back of Getafe. Real Sociedad won’t make it easy for them though. The visitors have the fifth best road record in Spain with a 5-4-4 mark away from home.

Real Valladolid have not played well at home this season. They have just 12 points in 12 home matches, while Real Madrid have been strong on the road. Real Madrid have had their fair share of woes this year, but they should have no problem knocking off Real Valladolid here.
