One of the most exciting cup competitions will enter the first leg of its Round of 16 this week when Spain’s Copa Del Rey starts up once more. Barcelona has vanquished all comers in this tournament over the last half-decade, winning each of the last four Copa Del Rey titles to make them the most successful team by far in this competition. They have won the Copa Del Rey 30 times over their history.

Sporting Gijon +330

Valencia -116

Draw +245

Over/Under 2.5

There is only one non-La Liga side left at this stage of the Copa Del Rey, and they are not favored to get any further this Tuesday. Sporting Gijon knocked off two other Segunda Division teams in their first two rounds of the Copa Del Rey, and then they knocked out La Liga club Eibar last month.

It hasn’t been a great year for Valencia though, and the club’s offensive woes may lead to a replay, or even worse a loss here. Valencia have found the back of the net just 16 times in 18 matches, and they have not found much success on the road in Spanish football. They have just two wins and six goals in nine road games, and that gives Gijon some hope.

Real Madrid -342

Leganes +865

Draw +451

Over/Under 3

Zinedine Zidane didn’t seem to ever prioritize Copa Del Rey. He, and Real Madrid, always cared far more about Champions League and La Liga, and as such they would sit a lot of starters and eventually crash out of this competition. They haven’t made it further than the quarterfinals in any of the past four years, so it will be interesting to see what Santi Solari does.

CD Leganes turned a lot of heads with their Copa Del Rey performance last year. Although the recently promoted club has narrowly avoided relegation in each of the past two seasons, they made it all the way to the semifinals of this competition last year in their best finish ever. They are likely to throw everything into this tilt as well, so they are a live dog here.

Levante +736

Barcelona -395

Draw +507

Over/Under 3.5 and 4

Poor Levante. They received a nice draw in the last round of the Copa Del Rey when they were matched against Lugo, and they were able to take care of business at home to advance. Unfortunately, this time around, they were drawn against the current title holders.

Barcelona want to make it five in a row, and they are likely to play some starters in order to take care of business here. A road win would essentially lock up a berth in the quarterfinals, and they hammered this same club 5-0 on the road just three weeks ago.

Athletic Bilbao +154

Sevilla +154

Draw +212

Over/Under 2 and 2.5

You might be surprised to see that the second-most successful club in the history of Copa Del Rey is Athletic Bilbao. Although Bilbao have not won this competition since the 1980s, they won the first two competitions and were a team to be reckoned with each year until three decades ago. They have won 23 Copa Del Rey titles in all, and they care about this competition more than you might think.

In the previous round of this year’s competition, Bilbao had arguably the most impressive victory. They crushed fellow La Liga club Huesca 4-0 both home and away to cruise into the Round of 16.

Now, they must face a seasoned Sevilla club that is playing good soccer. Sevilla are third in La Liga, but this team may not be prioritizing this competition as much with a Champions League berth in sight. They barely squeaked past third-tier Villanovense in the last round, winning 1-0 on aggregate.
