Old School Meets New School
The Falcons go for their second straight upset win over the NFC East when they face the Giants. Atlanta escaped with a win over the Eagles on Monday night, getting the Dan Quinn era started on a positive note. The Giants may be seeing an end to the Tom Coughlin era after a disastrous loss in Dallas that saw them blow a game with horrible clock management down the stretch....
The Bengals had the most convincing win and the Chargers had the biggest comeback win in Week 1. Cincinnati waltzed to an easy victory in Oakland last week, sending the Raiders to the halftime locker room amid a chorus of boos from the home town fans. They’ll get a stiffer test from another AFC West foe when San Diego pays a visit. The Chargers scored 30 unanswered points to overcome a large deficit and beat the Lions. They hit the road where they are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six September road games....
One team will feel a little better about where the season is headed and the other will be in a big hole when the NFC North clash between the Lions and Vikings is done. Both teams suffered painful losses last week with the Lions blowing a big lead in San Diego and the Vikings getting embarrassed in Santa Clara. Detroit will need to reverse a troubling trend as it is just 2-8-1 ATS in the last 11 road games against division foes....
Behind Carson Palmer Arizona is a different team. The Cardinals won for the seventh straight time when the veteran quarterback starts and he makes them a contender in the NFC.Bruce Arians interviewed for the Bears job back in 2013 before landing his current gig, and has directed the Cards to a 22-11 record. Arizona is even on the road under Arians, going 8-8, but has a stellar 11-5 ATS record in those games....
The Rams opened plenty of eyes with their upset win over Seattle in the opener, scoring a bunch of points against the stingiest defense in the NFL.Raise your hand if you saw that coming.St. Louis unleashed perhaps the best group of defensive linemen since the days of the Fearsome Foursome, not allowing Russell Wilson to get comfortable. Washington’s Kirk Cousins isn’t the most mobile quarterback in the NFL and he could be running for safety on Sunday....
Well, the Jameis Winston era got off to a rocky start in Tampa Bay’s thumping at the hands of the Titans last week. The No. 1 overall pick threw a touchdown pass on his first throw – to the wrong team – and struggled with his accuracy. He’ll get a chance to inflate his numbers against a New Orleans defense that was shredded by the Cardinals when the NFC South teams meet in the Big Easy on Sunday....
The Raiders were finally headed in the right direction. They hired a head coach who had won in the past, made some shrewd draft selections and had stability at quarterback. That was flushed last week with a resounding loss to the Bengals.Derek Carr injured his hand and is doubtful and the Raiders are teetering on another disappointing season....
It can’t be this easy, can it? Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota sure made it look that way in his NFL debut, leading Tennessee to an impressive opening day win last week. Mariota had a perfect quarterback rating and the Browns are hopeful their quarterback Johnny Manziel took notes. The teams like scoring points when they meet, playing the over in five of the last seven series meetings....
With all due respect to the Giants and the Redskins, the NFC East is a two-team race in 2015. The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles should be going back and forth with one another all season long in this division, making this Week 2 game in the City of Brotherly Love incredibly vital....
To say that the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks have a history against one another is an understatement. They met to open up the season last year on Thursday Night Football, and they finished the NFC portion of the season in the conference title game as well in what went down as one of the best finishes to a game in NFL playoff history....
Peyton Manning had one of the worst games of his career to open up the 2015 season, throwing for just 175 yards with a pick. He could once again prove to be a liability in prop betting instead of an asset for bettors when his Denver Broncos take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football in Week 2....
As the Dolphins look to make the leap from mediocrity, a pair of road wins and a victory over their in-state competition would be a boost. It’s time for the Jaguars to start producing victories, but they looked very similar to the group that managed just seven wins in head coach Gus Bradley’s first two seasons in their opening day loss. Miami goes for a fourth straight win over the Jaguars in what has been a historically low-scoring series with the teams cashing the under in the last five....
The San Francisco 49ers are going to have at least 10 different starters from the team which ended last season, and they are going to be breaking in a new coach in Jim Tomsula, too. Many expect this to end in a train wreck this year, starting off on Monday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings....
No team is going to be more unpredictable in the NFL early this season than the Philadelphia Eagles. They are the ones who have made the most changes from last season to this one, and we'll see it all on display for the first time on the road against the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football in Week 1....
WEEK 2 NFL OPENING ODDS...
The last time Adrian Peterson sat out an entire season, he came back and ran for 2,000 yards. Now, he returns from basically a full calendar year away from the game again, making him a real favorite for betting props on Monday Night Football for the Minnesota Vikings against the San Francisco 49ers....
It isn't often that a game between the two teams with the worst records in the NFL from the previous season yields so much attention. However, with two fresh faces into the league making their debuts at the same time, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Tennessee Titans all of sudden are incredibly intriguing....
Last season, the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants played two games in the 50s, and neither set of defensive backs had any chance of stopping the other team's wide receivers. That generally bodes well for touchdowns in this one, and that means Dez Bryant and Odell Beckham Jr. are going to be in high demand for prop purposes....
The first Monday Night Football game of the season between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons is one of the most hotly debated games amongst handicappers. What's also up for debate is who is going to score the first touchdown, as there are a ton of options on either side....
Philadelphia’s roster has been shaped by coach Chip Kelly, and now we’ll find out if he really knows what he’s doing at the NFL level. New Falcons coach Dan Quinn will get to see if his defensive influence has affected his new team when Atlanta hosts the high-energy Eagles in the first game of ESPN’s Monday Night Football doubleheader. Despite a disappointing 2014, the Falcons went 4-1 ATS as home dogs. The adjusted line has Atlanta +3....
A big NFC East battle is featured on the first installment of NBC’s Sunday Night Football when the Giants visit the defending division champion Cowboys. New York has a tendency to surprise when you least expect it and this could be one of those times. Dallas wasn’t that good at home last season, going 2-5 ATS before routing Indianapolis in a game that meant nothing to the Colts....
Following mass defections in the offseason, the 49ers are a shell of the team that terrorized the NFC under Jim Harbaugh. New coach Jim Tomsula must turn the Santa Clara-based Levi’s Stadium into a homefield advantage for the Niners, where they went just 4-4 SU and 1-7 ATS in its debut. The Vikings closed out last season going 8-2 ATS over the final 10 and have star running back Adrian Peterson to work with once again....
A powerhouse matchup in the AFC highlights the Sunday slate when the Ravens visit Denver. An early playoff exit and un-Peyton Manning like numbers last season have some believing the Broncos are trending downward. Don’t be fooled. A 38-10 SU record over the last three regular seasons is a sign they shouldn’t be written off just yet....
It isn't often that you see totals in NFL games come screaming down from their opening numbers unless there are a lot of odd circumstances. In the case of the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens though, the total has dropped from 52 to 49 in a matter of just a few days before the start of the season, something which live bettors really need to take note of....
You can go back and look at the history of the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys all you want. The results in these games always come back to whether Eli Manning or Tony Romo has the better game, and this is a great tell for live bettors in this one....
