Old School Meets New School
Things are looking all too familiar for the Jaguars, who opened with one or zero losses through the first six games for the fifth consecutive season after a dreadful performance in a pick em home game with Houston last week. A trip across the pond to take on the injury-decimated Bills looms. Will Jags coach Gus Bradley suffer the same fate as Miami’s Joe Philbin after his trip to London?...
Not surprising that the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers enter the first of their two annual NFC West showdowns with identical records. The big surprise is that they are at the bottom of the division. While the Niners were expected to take some lumps after a nasty off-season, the Seahawks were to be contenders. They might still be, but they’ll need to close games out in the fourth quarter if they want to get there....
No one is going to confuse the NFC East with the best division in football. That doesn’t make divisional matchups any less significant, and we have a good one on Monday Night Football when the Eagles welcome the division-leading Giants to town. The Eagles broke loose for a season-high 39 points last week, cashing the over for the first time this season. The over is 8-2 in their last 10 MNF games....
Amazingly, there are still five undefeated teams left in action in the NFL, and two of them will have the chance to continue their marches towards perfection in Week 7 while the Packers, Bengals and Broncos all have their bye weeks....
The last time the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers met a Super Bowl title was at stake. Things are much different just three seasons later and neither team looks like a contender when they meet Sunday at the site of Super Bowl 50. The Ravens make their fourth cross country trip and will look to cover for the first time this season after going 0-4-1 ATS in their first five....
The Patriots and Colts are doing their best to downplay the significance of their Deflategate rematch. But the game has been circled since the schedule came out, it’s being broadcast in primetime on Sunday Night Football and it’s one of the most highly anticipated contests of the regular season. There is also no question each team would like to crush the other....
The Seahawks have not had a winning record at any point this season, and they still won’t following their showdown with Carolina on Sunday. But they could get closer to that point with a return to CenturyLink Field.Seattle has the best home-field advantage in the NFL, having won nine in a row and 28 of 30, while winning the last five overall against Carolina....
The Miami Dolphins will take the field for the first time under new coach Dan Campbell, trying to avoid a fourth straight loss. Can the Titans get over the hump against a team that’s on the ropes? Tennessee is also riding a three-game losing streak with the last two coming in Nashville by a combined three points. The Titans are getting closer but have still lost 13 of their last 14....
The Packers proved last week they can win games even when Aaron Rodgers has a rare mediocre performance. He looks to return to his stellar ways and keep Green Bay undefeated both straight up and against the spread when it hosts a Chargers squad looking to regroup from a final-play loss....
Just because the Green Bay Packers are huge favorites against the San Diego Chargers doesn't mean that you should be running to the betting windows to get a piece of Aaron Rodgers in fantasy football action against Philip Rivers....
Half of the games on the Sunday schedule in Week 6 feature teams which are favored on the road. That creates a ton of sharp vs. square situations, some of we can't wait to take a closer look at....
The New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles have a ton in common with one another. Both teams are middling clubs who probably only have one chance to get into the playoffs: Win the NFC East. Both teams also have quarterbacks who are highly criticized and could be either really good or really bad. The battle between Sam Bradford and Eli Manning could be interesting for BookMaker's fantasy football bettors....
Tom Brady and Andrew Luck are largely looked at as two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts respectively. With the way things have been going this year, it'd be easy to just blindly suggest that Brady will crush Luck in fantasy betting at BookMaker Sportsbook. We're not sure things will play out that way, though....
The New England Patriots have beaten up their last two foes by the aggregate score of 81-23. Now, they get to face a team which has gotten fat off of its bad division, the Indianapolis Colts, in a prospective playoff battle in the AFC....
With the Redskins not seeming to have enough talent to get the job done and the Cowboys still trying to figure out how to get Tony Romo and Dez Bryant healthy, the NFC East has turned into a crapshoot. The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants will both feel like they can stake a claim to the division crown, but the loser of this one is going to have an uphill climb for sure....
The New Orleans Saints' season is already on life support just five games in. This might be the worst time in the world to catch one of the most surprising teams in the NFL, the undefeated Atlanta Falcons....
It’s a battle to stay out of the cellar in the AFC South when the Houston Texans visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. This is the third consecutive week that the Jags are playing a team with an identical record, and they’ve lost the first two in discouraging fashion. If the Jags want to prove they are getting better, and remove coach Gus Bradley from the hot seat for a week, it’ll start with a win....
All the Andy Dalton bashers can stay quiet for at least another week after the Bengals’ quarterback put on a masterful fourth quarter and overtime display against Seattle’s vaunted defense last week, leading Cincinnati to its fifth straight victory to start the season. It’s the Bengals best start in over a decade and they’re a near perfect 4-0-1 ATS....
The Browns got a jolt of confidence with last week’s stirring overtime win over Baltimore and look to carry the momentum from that game into Sunday’s showdown with the unbeaten Broncos. For the second time this season Denver won a game without scoring an offensive touchdown, knocking off Oakland last week. As a result of their sluggish offense, the under is 4-1....
The Detroit Lions are presented with a great opportunity to get their first win of the season. The Lions are 4-0 in their NFC North rivalry with the Chicago Bears over the last two seasons and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings. But the Lions are also a mess this season and were booed off the Ford Field turf following last week’s blowout loss....
A gutsy call by coach Mike Tomlin and a determined run by Le’Veon Bell may have saved the Steelers season. Bell’s one-yard touchdown run with no time left propelled Pittsburgh to a Monday night win. The Steelers begin a stretch of four of five games at Heinz Field, beginning Sunday with the sizzling Arizona Cardinals. The Cards offense has been ridiculous this year, which has caused the over to go a perfect 5-0....
Things went horribly bad for the Chiefs last week. Their fourth straight loss, a numbing last second defeat at home to Chicago, was punctuated by the loss of star running back Jamaal Charles for the season with a knee injury. The Chiefs must now dig themselves out of the hole they’re in without one of the best in the business. They can take comfort knowing that the Vikings haven’t won a game following their bye week in five years....
The least likely unbeaten in the NFL looks to match its win total from last season when the Falcons visit the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football. There’s a reason why the Falcons haven’t lost: They refuse to lose. Atlanta is the only team in league history to start 5-0 after trailing in the fourth quarter during four of those games....
Coming off their bye, the New York Jets look to continue their impressive start to the season when they host the injury-ravaged Redskins.New York had a week off to heal and prepare for a Washington team that suffered four more injuries to starters in last week’s overtime loss in Atlanta. The Redskins played in MetLife Stadium just three weeks ago, falling 32-21 to the Giants....
The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for better results with Michael Vick at quarterback. His first start in place of the injured Ben Roethlisberger didn’t go so well with an overtime loss to Baltimore, but he’s had 10 days to prepare for the Monday Night Football showdown with San Diego. The Chargers haven’t put up much of a fight against the Steelers in recent years and that’s translated at the betting window. Pittsburgh is 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings....
