Old School Meets New School
The St. Louis Rams pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season last week when they beat the Arizona Cardinals. Clearly though, they are still looking upon as second-class citizens in the NFC, knowing that they are double-digit favorites against the Green Bay Packers. There's no better way to declare themselves as legitimate title contenders than going on the road to the Frozen Tundra and taking care of business against the unbeaten Packers, a chance they'll have on Sunday afternoon....
Remember when the Dallas Cowboys were 2-0 and were supposed to run away and hide from the rest of the NFC East as long as Brandon Weeden could keep the ship moving in the right direction? The ship has officially starting running off course. Dallas is now 2-2 after two tough losses in a row, and now, it has to take on perhaps the best team in the NFL off of its bye week, the New England Patriots....
A rare quirk in the schedule has the Titans not leaving Nashville for five weeks, but the extended home stay is meaningless if they can’t take advantage of it. Tennessee dropped its home opener prior to its bye week and they kick off a stretch of three straight home games Sunday with Buffalo. The Titans will attempt to change their fortunes at home after going 2-12-1 ATS in their last 15 at Nissan Stadium....
The Chiefs opened as an overwhelming favorite against the Bears for their matchup on Sunday, and why not. Chicago has failed to score a point on the road this season – albeit it was only one game – and failed to cover as double-digit dogs. The -10 opening line is clearly an indication some believe Kansas City is better than its 1-3 record indicates....
As hard as they’ve tried this season, the Colts just can’t lose a game within the AFC South. Indy’s overtime win last week over Jacksonville extended their winning streak against divisional opponents to 15 straight, and they did it without quarterback Andrew Luck, who may be sitting again when the Colts visit Houston on Thursday night....
The argument could be made that the Indianapolis Colts are the luckiest 2-2 team in the league. They probably should have been beaten by both the Titans and the Jaguars the last two weeks, but they have continued to feast off of the brutal AFC South. History suggests that they should crush the Houston Texans on Thursday to help put this division to rest after a sluggish start to the season....
The Seahawks got some pieces back on defense but will go against the Lions on ESPN Monday Night Football without their top running back. Seattle has yet to allow a point with Kam Chancellor back after ending his holdout, but Marshawn Lynch won’t be there to carry the offense. It may not matter with the Lions struggling offensively. The Seahawks are 21-8 ATS in their last 29 games at CenturyLink Field and covered last week as a 16-point underdog....
Four teams are on bye in Week 5 of the season, and of the eight games that currently are featuring betting lines, most aren't of the particularly close variety....
The only game in the NFL this week that features two teams with winning records takes place in Denver when the Broncos host the Minnesota Vikings. Everyone can get back on the Vikings bandwagon following a pair of convincing home wins over Detroit and San Diego. But we know what happened when the Vikes were on the road in their opener. In order to get the wagon moving faster, the Vikings need a victory over a team with a winning record – something that hasn’t happened in the Mike Zimmer era....
The Arizona Cardinals built an undefeated record against teams that are a combined 1-8 this season. But they sure looked good doing it. The Cards have comfortably covered the spread in all three games and are laying a touchdown to a team that’s scored just one in the last two weeks. The Rams need to slow down the NFL’s highest scoring offense while finding a way to generate points to end a three-game slide against their NFC West rival....
Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weeden looks to keep one team streak going while ending a personal one. Dallas can set a franchise record for consecutive regular season road victories if they win in New Orleans on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. He can also put an end to his own nine-game losing skid as a starter. The Saints are hopeful to have Drew Brees back under center as they try to avoid losing their seventh straight home game....
The game between the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys is going to provide the oddsmakers with a massive headache. Drew Brees is still questionable for this game, and as of Thursday night, no book has hazarded a guess as to what this betting line will end up being. If Brees turns out to be the devastating "game-time decision," that's going to make this one all the more difficult to handicap....
Of all of the fantasy football matchups at BookMaker Sportsbook in Week 4, perhaps the most intriguing is the one between Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford. Theoretically, the Detroit Lions should be throwing the ball a heck of a lot more, providing plenty of opportunities for Stafford to get yards and eventually touchdowns, but the Seattle Seahawks are still right on the verge of being double-digit favorites and should have more touchdowns overall for Wilson....
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the longest home losing streak in the NFL at the moment, something that Jameis Winston is going to work hard to erase from the memory banks as quickly as possible. He's going to be matched up against Cam Newton in a very interesting fantasy football battle here at BookMaker Sportsbook this Sunday when the Carolina Panthers come to the New Sombrero....
The argument could be made that the Seattle Seahawks have been awfully lucky this year.Their schedule has consisted of the 1-2 Rams and the 0-3 Bears, and now, they get the 0-3 Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football....

This is the first of what the Packers hope are two visits to the 49ers second-year home venue this season. A win Sunday would improve Green Bay’s chances of a return trip to Levi’s Stadium in February. The 49ers have been the Packers kryptonite the past few seasons, but this isn’t the same Niners club that won four straight in the series and ended the Packers 2012 and 2013 seasons....
The Bengals go after their first 4-0 start since 2005 when they host the Chiefs on Sunday. Another promising start from Cincinnati isn’t surprising since they’ve been a beast in the regular season after Andy Dalton took over at quarterback. The Bengals will be judged on their postseason play and they’re in a good position for their fifth straight postseason appearance....
There’s no sense in putting off the inevitable for the Cleveland Browns. Veteran Josh McCown isn’t the quarterback of the future and Johnny Manziel should be. So pull the trigger already and give Johnny the football. A report of dissension in the Browns locker room over the starter will only make a bad situation even worse for Cleveland football fans....
Our cash game picks were simply fantastic last week with Cam Newton, Jamaal Charles and A.J. Green all finishing in the top four fantasy performers at their respective positions. Our GPP picks left much to be desired, but that’s going to happen from time to time when you search through the bedrock looking to score that diamond in the rough....
The Denver Broncos haven't played the prettiest games ever to get to 3-0, but being undefeated at this stage of the season generally means good things for getting into the postseason. Another stern test awaits on Sunday though, as the Minnesota Vikings bring their new-look offense to Mile High for the first time in the Teddy Bridgewater era....
A handful of days ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers would have been easy favorites on Thursday Night Football over the Baltimore Ravens. In fact, early point spreads indicated and that the men in black and gold were going to be laying around 4.5-5 points. Now that Ben Roethlisberger is out for the fold though, the Ravens are actually giving 2.5 on the road in the Steel City....
The injury bug struck again in a big time way to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week when Ben Roethlisberger suffered an MCL injury which will cost him the next 4-6 weeks.Big Ben isn't the only man with major injury concerns going into Week 4, though....
When NBC booked the New Orleans Saints and the Dallas Cowboys for Week 4, they had visions of Tony Romo throwing the ball to Dez Bryant and Drew Brees chucking darts all over the place. At least the two Dallas players won't be in the lineup in this one, and there's a decent chance that Luke McCown will be playing in place of Brees....
Timeshares. Every fantasy football player hates them when it comes to running backs, which is why it is so darn valuable to have a back like a Marshawn Lynch in your lineup on a weekly basis, whether it be on your regular fantasy team or your daily fantasy team. You hate to pick the wrong running back in a timeshare and end up being the guy who is playing a back who has four carries for 12 yards....
