Dallas Cowboys Regular Season Win Total

Dallas Cowboys Regular Season Win Total

The Dallas Cowboys were never able to find consistency last season. Because of it, the franchise went under a complete overhaul this past offseason with the dismissal of Jason Garrett and his entire staff. The move paved the way for Mike McCarthy’s return to the sideline off a year-plus hiatus. The Cowboys roster has brimmed with talent for a number of seasons, but the former coaching staff was never truly able to harness it. That in a nutshell is why Garrett will be calling plays for the New York Giants instead of roaming the sidelines in Big D for a tenth straight season. With the roster already assembled and the pieces added in both the NFL Draft and free agency, NFL bettors look to be very bullish on Jerry Jones’ squad making some noise in 2020-21. Their season win total hit the board at 9.5-games and currently has hefty -155 juice attached to the over. This franchise has alternated O/U results each of the last seven seasons with the under cashing in last year after the team failed to surpass its 9-game season win total odds by amassing an 8-8 SU record that saw them miss out on the playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons.

Dallas Cowboys Season Win Total: 9.5

Though Dak Prescott is yet to receive the long-term deal he’s clamored for since last season, the former Mississippi State Bulldog is going to get paid in 2020 to be the team’s QB1. In receiving the exclusive franchise tag, Prescott will make upwards of $31 million dollars to run the offense. That’s a lot of cashish for a guy that had only made just over $4 million since first signing with the Cowboys back in 2016. Though not one of the elite quarterbacks in the league, he’s asking for elite money so it remains to be seen what future he ultimately has in Big D. Dak threw for over 4,900 yards last season to go along with 30 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. The passing yards were 1,000 more than his previous career-high, and he could go on to better that output in 2020-21 with the pass catching ensemble currently surrounding him.

Amari Cooper was inked to a 5 year $100 million dollar deal in the offseason after putting forth a rock solid effort in his first full season with the Boys. He ended up being one of two 1000+ yard receivers with second-year stud Michael Gallup also proving to be a major weapon by reeling in 66 receptions and turning them into 1,107 yards and 6 TD. Each will be lining up for “America’s Team” this season, and both will be highly sought after targets in both season-long and daily fantasy leagues. The rich only got richer in the draft when Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb fell to the Cowboys at No. 17. Though another wide receiver wasn’t needed, he was far and away the best player on the board at that point. His addition to the offense will only make opposing defensive coordinators heads spin even more. Pair this lethal passing attack with the 1-2 punch of Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard in the backfield, and NFL bettors could be looking at one of the best offensive attacks the league has to offer this upcoming season.

The only bothersome aspect of the team is the fact that the defense lost a number of stud contributors and looks to be getting a bit long in the tooth. Offseason acquisitions Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe have racked up a ton of mileage on their frames over the course of their careers, so it remains to be seen if they can strengthen the interior of Dallas’ D-Line. With Robert Quinn bolting for Chicago after signing a big money contract, Jones decided to take a shot with Aldon Smith in hopes that he can replace his production. The loss of Byron Jones in the secondary is also a concern. While Ha Ha Clinton-Dix stepped up after signing a one-year show-me contract with the Bears last season, he’ll have his work cut out for him with the NFC East possessing some of the better wide receiver corps in the league. Should draft picks Trevon Diggs and Bradlee Anae be able to step right in and make an impact immediately, Dallas will be one of the more well-rounded teams in not only the NFC, but the entire league.

Dallas Cowboys Schedule Analysis

The Cowboys strength of schedule ranks out as the ninth easiest in the league per the folks at Sharp Football Analysis. That however was the same story a season ago and the team was only able to muster a .500 record. Will McCarthy and his staff be the difference maker? They got the NFC West and AFC North as well as showcase games against the Falcons and Vikings out of the division. Four of their final seven games following the bye will also be played away from AT&T Stadium. Regardless of the defenses likely shortcomings, the Cowboys offense will have enough in the tank to win a number of shootouts. Whether it ultimately translates into Dallas becoming a bonafide threat to win the NFC and Super Bowl is an entirely different discussion. Regardless, I’m expecting the Cowboys to be one of the more entertaining stories of the 2020-21 NFL betting season and I fully expect them to win 10+ games and be in the mix when it matters most.
