Old School Meets New School
The rivalry continues for the Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers in Week 13 of the 2016 college football schedule as these two teams meet for the 120th team in their histories. The Civil War between these has gone to the Ducks in eight straight meetings and Oregon has been victorious in 63 matchups dating back to the inaugural showdown in 1894. The Beavers are unlikely to overcome history, once again entering the contest as underdogs....
The Georgia Bulldogs topped the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets last season in a meaningful rematch after the Yellow Jackets grabbed the win against the SEC giant with 399 rushing yards a year prior. The Bulldogs have dominated this matchup, but the road team has won the last three meetings. The Yellow Jackets will look to make it four straight for the road team when these two instate rivals square off in Week 13....
P.J. Fleck is the name on the tongue of Athletic Directors across the country. Fleck has completely resurrected a moribund Western Michigan Broncos team since his arrival and has them on the precipice of an undefeated season and a potential spot in a New Year’s Six bowl. Standing in their way in College Football Week 13 action are the Toledo Rockets. Toledo can not only upset the apple cart, but flip it over entirely, as a Rockets win would put them in the MAC Championship Game....
Looking to keep themselves in the college title picture, the Clemson Tigers will be at home, hosting a much lesser South Carolina Gamecock team looking to make headlines in an otherwise mediocre season. The odds are stacked against South Carolina in Week 13, but the Gamecocks are playing well, winning four of their last five games....
The UCLA Bruins host the California Golden Bears in Week 13 for yet another iteration of this in-state rivalry. Heading into the weekend, UCLA has the distinct advantage in this series winning 20 more games than the Bears all-time, 52-32-1. More recently, it’s been the Bruins dominating California each of the last three years....
A blowout loss at the hands of Houston has put a damper on an otherwise great season for the Louisville Cardinals. They’ll look for a rebound victory to close out the 2016 regular season as they play host the lackluster Kentucky Wildcats in Week 13 action on Saturday afternoon....
Losses to Navy and Southern Methodist have sunk the Houston Cougars to second in the AAC West standings. They’ll look to improve their standing in conference with a Week 13 victory over the Memphis Tigers. Houston has won each of the last six contests between these two programs....
The Pac-12 North championship is on the line this week as rivals and ranked conference opponents the No. 22 Washington State Cougars and the No. 6 Washington Huskies face off. This Week 13 matchup, which has been dubbed the Apple Cup, is highly anticipated for both sides this season given the strength of these programs as well as what’s at stake....
The Texas Longhorns have a coach in flux and a season which has not lived up to expectations. They will aim to put that in the rearview mirror with a win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 13 of the college football season. It will be the finale for Texas and the second-to-last game of the year for TCU....
The Baylor Bears and Texas Tech Red Raiders both had reason to be excited early in the season. Now they are reeling as they face off in Week 13 of the college football season....
The Territorial Cup rivalry is barely worth mentioning this season. The Arizona State Sun Devils and Arizona Wildcats have both had underwhelming seasons as they prepare to face off in Week 13 of the college football season....
The Wyoming Cowboys control their own destiny as they aim to capture the Mountain Division of the Mountain West Conference. The Cowboys can win the tiebreaker over Boise State if they take care of business against the New México Lobos in Week 13 of the college football season....
The Miami Hurricanes have gone through an up and down season in 2016, but it is projected to end on a high note. Miami is a heavy favorite in Week 13 of the college football season when they host the Duke Blue Devils....
The Virginia Tech Hokies can wrap up the ACC Coastal Division title with a win against the Virginia Cavaliers. Virginia Tech will be a heavy favorite in this Week 13 college football matchup....
The Nebraska Cornhuskers aren’t quite in the same echelon as the elite teams in the Big Ten, but have nonetheless put together a nice season and can cap it with a road win against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The teams will face off in Week 13 of the college football season....
The Boise State Broncos are used to winning the Mountain West, but will need some help as the season wraps up in Week 13. They need to take care of business on the road against Air Force and then hope Wyoming loses in order to capture the Mountain division....
The Missouri Tigers’ disappointing season will come to an end in Week 13 with no hope of bowl eligibility. With that in mind, it will be hard for the group to muster the proper motivation to knock off the visiting Arkansas Razorbacks....
It’s been a great season if you’re a school from Michigan with a direction in your name. The Eastern Michigan Eagles are going to make their first bowl since 1987 this season and the fan base is ready to travel someplace warm for the postseason. Their opponent on Tuesday, the Central Michigan Chippewas, scored the biggest out-of-conference win for any MAC team when they knocked off Oklahoma State two months ago and that win also helped them get to six. Central Michigan will be looking for its fifth straight win in this series....
The Miami of Ohio Redhawks have a chance to make history on Tuesday night. The Redhawks started the season 0-6, but have won five in a row since then to not only have a chance at bowl eligibility, but a chance at a MAC East title with a win coupled with an Ohio loss. Standing in their way will be the Ball State Cardinals, a team that has only one win in conference play this season, but has shown signs of life recently....
The North Carolina State Wolfpack will wrap up their schedule on Friday in Week 13 action against their in-state rivals, the North Carolina Tar Heels. This is certainly a tail of two very different teams with the Wolfpack struggling in conference play while the Tar Heels have had more success, including upset wins on the road against Florida State and Miami....
Any chance that Ed Orgeron had to remain the coach of the LSU Tigers disappeared after the Bayou Bengals lost to Florida this weekend. The loss was LSU’s fourth on the season and despite the team looking better under Orgeron than it had previously, that likely means he is on his way out. It’s very possible that LSU’s game this week against the Texas A&M Aggies will be his last in Baton Rouge and his team wants to send him out with a win....
Win and you’re in. As long as the Ohio Bobcats get a W on Tuesday night against the Akron Zips, they will win the MAC East and a trip to Ford Field to take on either Toledo or Western Michigan in the MAC Championship Game. The Bobcats are hungry for the win, having not reached the conference title game since 2011, and haven’t won the MAC in almost 50 years. Meanwhile, their opponents are looking to get that all important sixth win to get to a bowl game....
There really isn't necessarily a whole heck of a lot left to say about Week 13 of the college football season aside from the fact that it's Rivalry Week. A Top 5 team is guaranteed to be beaten for the third straight week when Ohio State plays against Michigan, and there's sure to be one last shakeup before conference title games are played out in Week 14....
One of the tougher opponents in the Mountain West, the Wyoming Cowboys will host the west leading San Diego State Aztecs in Week 12 action. The Cowboys are hoping to upset yet another Mountain West elite just as they were able to do against Boise State a few weeks ago....
It’s hard to find two more opposite teams in the same conference than the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. These two steams square off in Week 12 action on Saturday night with Penn State holding out hope for a Big Ten title game appearance and Rutgers just looking forward to the season’s end....
