The South Carolina Gamecocks started their season with a bang. With all the talk about North Carolina State’s sleeper status prior to their meeting, you’d think the Gamecocks were considered a pushover. Will Muschamp’s boys came out with something to prove and ended up pulling off the upset against the Wolfpack. Now there are a lot of people expecting them to do well against their second opponent of the season, the Missouri Tigers.... 

The Clemson Tigers are looking to become the first team to win back-to-back national championships since Alabama did it in 2011-12. Clemson was able to prevent Alabama from repeating as champions last season and got off to a great start in its quest to become the first ACC school to accomplish the feat. The Auburn Tigers, themselves hailed as a national title contender in 2017, will aim to prevent that from happening.... 

Chalk up another big win for the juggernaut known as the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama was dominant on defense against Florida State in one of the most highly anticipated early season games in recent memory. The Crimson Tide flew around the field and left head coach Jimbo Fisher scratching his head on more than one occasion. Now, Alabama gets a much easier FSU this weekend when the Fresno State Bulldogs come to Alabama.This matchup in Week 2 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017,at 3:30 p.m. ET at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Willie Taggart era is off to a great start in Oregon. The Oregon Ducks ripped Southern Utah in its season opener and now hopes are high heading into the second week of the season. They will face much stiffer competition in the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska had trouble distancing itself from Arkansas State in its season opener and was happy to just escape with a win at the end of the day. It’s another ominous start to the Mike Riley era in Lincoln.This matchup in Week 2 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017,at 4:30 p.m. ET at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. This game will be broadcast on FOX.... 

The TCU Horned Frogs are going to be out for revenge when they face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks in this Week 2 matchup. The Horned Frogs were down 20-7 to the Razorbacks heading into the fourth quarter when these teams met last year, but roared back to take a 28-20 lead with just two minutes left. Arkansas ended up forcing overtime and pulled it out in the extra frame after Austin Allen ran it in from five yards out. It was a tough loss for TCU and took the team from No. 15 to unranked in the AP Poll.This matchup in Week 2 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017,at 3:30 p.m. ET at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. This game will be broadcast on CBS.... 

Both the Tulane Green Wave and Navy Midshipmen got off to a solid start in 2017. Navy was able to handle Florida Atlantic and the weather in its season opener, while Tulane dismissed the naysayers who thought that Grambling could give them a game with a dominant performance. This will be the first conference game for both teams, but while Navy is looking to compete for a division title once again, Tulane would be happy if it just got back to a bowl game this season.... 

The Penn State Nittany Lions enter 2017 as one of the most hyped teams in the country. Big things are expected for the Nittanies this year after they burst on the scene in what was considered a make or break year for James Franklin in 2016. They ended up reaching the Rose Bowl and had a wildly successful season, but the low point was undoubtedly when they lost to the Pittsburgh Panthers in the second week of the 2016 campaign. The Purdue Boilermakers had a very promising start under new head coach Jeff Brohm. Purdue was expected to get creamed by Louisville and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson, but made it a game and only lost by a touchdown at the end. Now there is real hope in Purdue for the first time in the past few years, but now they must navigate a very tricky opponent in their second game of the season, the Ohio Bobcats.This contest in Week 2 of the regular season will go down Friday, September 8, 2017, at 8p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. This game will be broadcast on FS1.... 

It was by and large a bad day for the ACC in the first week of the college football season. Two of the teams that personified that were the Louisville Cardinals the North Carolina Tar Heels. Louisville struggled with Purdue and was actually down in the fourth quarter at one point before rallying for a seven-point victory. One of the most underrated rivalries in college football will be one of the first games of a full slate of action on Saturday afternoon. The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Iowa State Cyclones will square off for the Cy-Hawk Trophy for the 65^th time. Although Iowa is generally regarded as the better school, this series has been even over the last 20 seasons. Each team has won 10 games during that stretch, but Iowa has won the last two quite comfortably.Watch this regular season Week 2 matchup live on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 12 p.m. ETat Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. Camp Randall will be jumping around on Saturday afternoon when the Florida Atlantic Owls come to town. Florida Atlantic was blown out in Lane Kiffin’s debut with the Owls, but there was a lot to be optimistic about. Meanwhile, the Wisconsin Badgers took care of business in their home opener against the Utah State Aggies. This is the first meeting between these two teams and the Owls will be looking for their first win against a Big Ten opponent since beating Minnesota in 2007.This contest in Week 2 of the regular season will go down Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 12p.m. ET at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. This game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.... 

Two teams that could not have had a more disparate start to the season will square off in one of the early games on Saturday afternoon. The Michigan Wolverines are riding high after largely controlling the run of play against Florida in their season opener. Their defense totally shut down the Gators offense and made them work for every yard. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bearcats were expected to cruise to a victory against an Austin Peay team with a 27 game losing streak, the nation’s longest. However, things proved to be far more difficult than expected and the Governors hung close the entire game.Watch this regular season Week 2 matchup live on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 12 p.m. ETat Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Oklahoma State Cowboys were seen as the second-most likely team to win the Big 12 prior to the start of the season. It’s not hard to find things to like about the Cowboys, they have a fantastic quarterback in Mason Rudolph and one of the best receivers in the country in James Washington. Head coach Mike Gundy is an offensive genius too and can put up points on most defenses. They will look to keep rising in the rankings this week as they take on the South Alabama Jaguars.... 

The Utah State Aggies looked ready to shock the world after one quarter last week against Wisconsin. The Aggies led the Badgers 10-0 at the end of the first 15-minute frame, but saw everything unravel quickly. Wisconsin scored 59 straight points in what turned out to be a laugher. The Aggies should fare much better this week against the Idaho State Bengals.... 

The first weekend of the 2017 college football season is in the books. There was plenty of excitement and heartache in the opening week of the season, but there weren’t very many upsets. For the most part, the chalk held serve, although the Tom Herman era did not get off to a good start at Texas after his Longhorns lost 51-41 as a 19-point favorite in Week 1. Some of the biggest line movements for the premier games this week have been on the favorite too.... 

Kevin Sumlin might be on the hottest seat in the nation. Despite being one of the highest paid head coaches in the country, he has lost four games in each of the past four seasons and has followed the same script in each of those years. His Texas A&M Aggies get off to a strong start against an opponent that turns out to be overrated and then rips off five or six straight wins before completely collapsing. The boosters are tired of the same old story and even a win against the UCLA Bruins in the season opener might not stop the grumbling.Watch this regular season Week 1 matchup live on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. A jampacked opening week of college football closes on Labor Day with the second ever college football game in brand-new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Tennessee Volunteers were one of the most hyped teams in college football entering the last two seasons, but there is no buzz surrounding them this year. Without talent like Josh Dobbs, Alvin Kamara, Josh Malone, and Derek Barnett, no one is expecting the Vols to compete for a division title in 2017. They will start the season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.Watch this regular season Week 1 matchup live on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 8 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.... 

It’s been a chaotic time for the Ole Miss Rebels’ football program. The team missed the postseason a year ago after a disappointing 5-7 campaign and already knows it won’t be going bowling this year after self-imposed sanctions.Furthermore, the team has a new coach after the unexpected departure of Hugh Freeze. The Rebels will aim to put all of that behind them in the regular season opener against the South Alabama Jaguars.Ole Miss is a heavy favorite but any hiccups due to all the uncertainty this offseason could allow South Alabama to cover. This will be an interesting matchup to see how the Rebels respond after so much upheaval.... 

The Cardinals face a big-conference foe in the season opener but the Purdue Boilermakers will be heavy underdogs despite playing the game in their home state inside the Indianapolis Colts’ stadium. Purdue won just three games a season ago because of a porous defense, and this is one of the worst matchups to have to begin a new season against such a dynamic offensive juggernaut in Louisville.If the Cardinals truly want to be considered national championship contenders, they will need to blow out the Boilermakers with ease to open the year.... 

Auburn has the superior talent across the board and should be able to coast to the victory in this matchup. The Tigers were ranked as high as No. 8 in the country a season ago before falling off and believe they can be College Football Playoff contenders. Much will depend on how Stidham steps in under center and if the team’s running game can be as successful as many believe.Georgia Southern has no chance of winning this game but the spread is large and a cover is possible if the Eagles can avoid turnovers.... 

The top-ranked Crimson Tide is facing off with the No. 3 Florida State Seminoles at a neutral site in one of the biggest matchups of the early-season. Alabama lost a lot of talent to the NFL, but that happens every year, and it always reloads. The Seminoles are also stacked with playmakers and believe they have the type of talent to go toe-to-toe with the best program in the land.It doesn’t get much better than this, as Alabama and Florida State will start the season off with a bang.... 

The Red Wolves will take to the road in their regular season opener for a matchup with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska had a decent record last season but struggled badly down the stretch, and seem to be in a transition year.The Huskers have more talent and should win this game, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arkansas State makes them uncomfortable from start to finish by hanging around. For those looking for a bold upset pick, a win by the Red Wolves in this game isn’t totally out of the question.... 

Georgia hopes to be in contention for an upper tier bowl game and needs to get off to a fast start. The Bulldogs will be double-digit underdogs in this matchup but Appalachian State is a plucky underdog with a long history of success and challenging bigger-conference opponents.The Mountaineers used a stingy defense to hit double-digit wins in 2016 and hope to put together another nice year. A win over Georgia would really be a fantastic start, but even staying relatively close would be a good sign of things to come the rest of the way.... 

The Black Diamond Trophy is up for grabs once again. After more than a decade in the athletic facilities in Blacksburg, the West Virginia Mountaineers have a chance to win the trophy away from the Virginia Tech Hokies. West Virginia leads this series all-time 28-22-1, but did not have the better end of the series when Frank Beamer was the coach of Virginia Tech. This has traditionally been a low-scoring series, but fireworks could be in the air considering the two coaches that are patrolling the sidelines.... 

The Arizona Wildcats are looking to bounce back after a disaster of a season in 2016. Arizona had gone to a bowl in each of Rich Rodriguez’s four previous seasons at the school, but lost eight straight conference games before a season-ending win over rival Arizona State last year. They will look to turn things around in 2017, but face a tricky test in their opener. The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks have one of the best quarterbacks at the FCS level and he can have some success against this defense....
