Although the Colorado Buffaloes had a dream season last year, not many expected them to repeat that feat in 2017. Colorado had a big shakeup in its coaching staff and star quarterback Sefo Liufau was no longer in Boulder. However, the Buffaloes have gotten off to another good start and might be able to yet again contend for a Pac 12 title. This team will face their first test on Saturday night when the Washington Huskies come to town.... 

No one thought that both of these teams would be undefeated at this point in the season. Sure, everyone thought that the USC Trojans would probably be 3-0 heading into this game. USC entered the season ranked in the Top 5 by most observers and has remained unblemished despite some hiccups. The same can not be said for the California Golden Bears. Most Golden Bears fans would have been elated at a 2-1 start given their tumultuous offseason, but instead they are 3-0 and have a great chance at making a bowl game. Knocking off USC is a huge ask though....

This is your father’s Baylor Bears. After a brief respite, the Bears are once again one of the worst teams in the Big 12 and are big home underdogs to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday evening. Baylor has yet to win a game this season, but at least showed a pulse when it went on the road and hung with Duke for a little bit before bowing out. The Penn State Nittany Lions would like you to know that there is a third team vying for the Big Ten East. The Nittany Lions haven’t been tested yet, but will this week when they go on the road for the first time this season. There’s no doubt that the Utah Utes know they are walking into a dangerous situation this week. Utah is undefeated and ranked heading into the start of its Pac-12 schedule, but it knows that the Arizona Wildcats are going to be a tough challenge. The Utes opened as a field goal favorite for that very reason and many will have them on upset alert on Friday night. The Ohio State Buckeyes left no doubt who was the better team last week against Army. A week after getting throttled at home by Oklahoma, the Buckeyes piled on the yardage over four quarters in an easy win over the Black Knights. They have one more game before starting their conference schedule on the road against Rutgers next week and will look to make the most of it. What can the Clemson Tigers do for an encore at this point? Clemson has the most impressive resume of any team in college football right now with wins over Auburn and Louisville. The Tigers defense led the way in the win over Auburn, while the offense took charge in the big win against Louisville last week. Now, Clemson must fight complacency when the lowly Boston College Eagles limp into town after getting demolished by Wake Forest and Notre Dame at home in consecutive weeks.Kickoff for this regular season Week 4 game is set for Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 3:30 p.m. ET at Clemson Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina. One of these two teams was expected to enter this game undefeated and in the driver’s seat in its half of the SEC, the other one was certainly not. The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to be an unstoppable force crushing everything in their path. They have registered three comfortable wins this season and look set to roll over an SEC West that looks a lot easier than it did at the start of the year. The other team in this game, the Vanderbilt Commodores, were not expected to be in this spot. However, their defense has led them to a 3-0 start to the season and they look set to at least make a bowl. This might be the first time that the Commodores have ever been somewhat optimistic heading into a game against mighty Alabama.This matchup in Week 4 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 23, 2017,at 3:30 p.m. ET at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. This game will be broadcast on CBS.... 

The Boise State Broncos should be 3-0. If not for a fourth quarter collapse against Washington, the Broncos would be ranked and have a shot to finish the year undefeated and get the Group of Five bid to a New Year’s Day bowl. Alas, they blew that lead, but have another chance to beat a power five opponent when the Virginia Cavaliers come to town. Virginia has already matched last season’s win total and is looking a lot better in Bronco Mendenhall’s second year at the helm in Charlottesville. A win here would be huge for the psyche of the program.... 

The Temple Owls might be one of the least impressive 2-1 teams in the country. Temple got blasted by Notre Dame in its opener and only barely squeaked by FCS Villanova and lowly UMass the last two weeks. This week, the Owls will face another ranked team, but they too have disappointed. The South Florida Bulls have been ranked in the bottom of the Top 25 all season long, but have yet to put forward a quality first half of football. They will try to do that for the first time all year this week.... 

College Gameday will be headed to the Big Apple for the first time in the show’s history this week and if that’s not an indictment of the games this week, we don’t know what is. There are some interesting matchups to be sure, but there isn’t a marquee game that’s appointment viewing like there is most weeks. There are only two games between ranked foes this week and since both road teams are expected to come back down to Earth soon, ESPN decided to spend the week in New York City instead of on campus somewhere.... 

Baker Mayfield is living the dream. Mayfield eschewed the chance to leave early for the NFL last season, saying he wanted to come back for one more year in Norman. He is off to a fantastic start after blitzing Ohio State last week in a game that wasn’t even that close. If it wasn’t for the Oklahoma Sooners’ inability to finish off drives deep in Buckeyes territory in the first half, the score would have been a lot more lopsided as the Sooners grabbed revenge. In their final game before entering Big 12 play, the Sooners take on the Tulane Green Wave this week and are expected to paste them.This matchup in Week 3 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017,at 6 p.m. ET at OU Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma. This game will be broadcast on OKPV.... 

Texas didn’t look good in a season-opening loss to Maryland, and even after bouncing back last time out, it will be a big underdog on the road in this one. The Trojans have an impressive offense and it could be a lot to ask for the Longhorns to keep it in check.USC has moved up to No. 4 in the national rankings and is angling for a College Football Playoff spot at the end of the year. The Trojans can’t afford any slip-ups, including in this matchup against Texas.... 

Stanford is 1-1 on the year but the loss came on the road to a tough USC team, which is forgivable. The Cardinal want to bounce back in this one but must play well because a little slip-up could all of a sudden make this contest very uncomfortable.This is one of the more intriguing non-conference matchups of this weekend’s slate as San Diego State proved last time out it is no pushover.... 

Utah is the much better team and gets this game at home, so there isn’t expected to be a lot of drama when it comes to which team finishes on top. While the Utes are expected to cruise, San Jose State has to be steaming after a 56-0 loss to Texas last time out and will aim to put up more of a fight in this one.The Utes have crawled into one of the top-25 national rankings and sit just outside on the other, so an impressive performance in this one should continue to gain them acclaim on a national level.... 

The Missouri Tigers and Purdue Boilermakers will meet in a game that is expected to be one of the highest scoring this weekend. Missouri is fourth in the nation in total offense, averaging 619 yards a game, but can’t seem to stop anybody on defense. It’s a similar story with Purdue, who moved the ball really effectively against Louisville and ripped through Ohio, but has defensive issues of its own. The team that holds the ball last might be the winning side here.This matchup in Week 3 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017,at 4 p.m. ET at Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri. This game will be broadcast on SEC Network.... 

Ole Miss is trying to stay afloat despite a bowl ban and the firing of coach Hugh Freeze due to an off-field controversy, while Cal hopes to keep surprising with another win. The Rebels enter this game as slight favorites, but the home field should allow the Bears to be competitive and possibly pull out a win if they play well.While these teams aren’t expected to be in the upper tier of their conferences this season, this is nonetheless an intriguing early-season matchup between Pac-12 and SEC foes.... 

Washington is clearly the superior team and has the home field advantage so this does not figure to be a tough test. The Bulldogs were smoked by No. 1 Alabama last time out and could get blown out again as they have one of the toughest opening stretches among any team in college football.While the outcome seems to be in little doubt, the spread will be something to watch as Fresno State may play well enough to garner a cover.... 

The Alabama Crimson Tide just keep on rolling. It’s rinse, wash, repeat as the Crimson Tide again look like one of the best teams in college football. No matter how many players Alabama loses to the NFL each season, it has the best recruiting pipeline in college football and continues to just reload without any hint of relenting in the near future. The Crimson Tide will get to play one more non-conference opponent before SEC play kicks off against Vandy next week and will look to best Mike Bobo and the Colorado State Rams.This matchup in Week 3 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017,at 7 p.m. ET at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This game will be broadcast on ESPN2.... 

You’ve got to feel bad for the Army Black Knights. They know they are about to face a buzzsaw in the Ohio State Buckeyes. Army is off to a 2-0 start, but is more than a four-touchdown underdog to Ohio State in this one. The Buckeyes are bound to be angry heading into this one. They were totally outplayed by Oklahoma last week with both the passing game and the defense sharing the blame. Ohio State should right the ship against Army, but can it cover that spread?This matchup in Week 3 of the regular season will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017,at 4:30 p.m. ET at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Arizona State is 1-1 on the year, holding on against lowly New México State in its opener before losing to San Diego State by 10 points at home last weekend. Texas Tech cruised to victory in its first game against Eastern Washington but this will be a bigger test.The Red Raiders are favored and if the Sun Devils lose again the hot seat will become boiling for Graham entering Pac-12 conference play.... 

The SEC East is littered with a bunch of decent teams this season. Decent is a term you don’t want to hear when speaking of one of the toughest conferences in college football. That means the division is entirely up for grabs, and whoever wants it most will likely be able to take it. That’s exactly what the Kentucky Wildcats and South Carolina Gamecocks will attempt to do on Saturday night when the division rivals lock horns in their respective SEC openers.... 

If there’s one thing positive in the corner of the Georgia State Panthers heading into Saturday’s tilt with the Penn State Nittany Lions, it’s that they will have had two-plus weeks to prepare for it. That’s where the positives end! James Franklin has got his kids locked in at the moment, and they likely won’t be letting off the gas in this one should the game get away from the Panthers. PSU is way too deep for this Sun Belt rep to run with, and that will immediately show once this slaughter kicks off in front of a lathered up Happy Valley contingent.... 

The Oregon Ducks had many a college football bettor bent out of shape last week after it dropped 42 points on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the first half, but went scoreless the rest of the way costing those that wagered on them what looked to be a sure-fire ticket cash. They’ll now set their sights on Heisman Hopeful Josh Allen and the Wyoming Cowboys who already failed miserably once this season when matched up against an opponent with a pulse. That game took place on the road however, and not at home where the Cowboys have won nine of their last 11 games....
