Week 7 Football Predictions – Texas Tech at TCU NCAAF Wagering Lines

Week 7 Football Predictions

Week seven live betting gets off to a great start thanks to a Big 12 Thursday night game between two teams that are capable but struggling when the TCU Horned Frogs host the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Inconsistency has plagued both teams and they have little margin for error. Additionally, there has been a good share of criticism for both teams as more was expected from them. Once again Texas Tech has a great offense but no defense. For TCU they again have a good but not great defense and an offense that has been sluggish.

This contest in Week 7 will go down on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. ET at Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas. The game can be seen on ESPN.

Due to the dynamics of both teams live betting opportunities will be a plenty. Have your account ready for it as well as sides, totals, halves and props.

Odds Analysis

The line reflects the public’s respect for TCU and their skepticism about the Red Raiders defense. Every year the public gets told that Texas Tech will have an improved defense only to discover that they don’t. TCU has more cache with the betting public.

Current Form

Texas Tech is 3-2 both straight up and against the spread and is coming off a bye week that followed a 42-34 home loss to the West Virginia Mountaineers.

The TCU Horned Frogs are 3-2 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread after a 17-14 home win over Iowa State in which they were 11-point overlay chalks. TCU was also off last week.

Team Metrics

TCU ranks 64th in the nation for total offense but their defense ranks an impressive 12th overall nationally. Texas Tech ranks tops in the nation for overall offense and second for passing yardage. Offsetting that is a defense that ranks 108th in the country. It is those two extremes by Texas Tech that will make live betting so intriguing and potentially opportune.

Matchup to Watch

TCU may not have the most prolific offense in the country but that is in contrast with a Texas Tech defense that will offer plenty of openings to the Horned Frogs. Counter to that is the matchup of what looks to be the unstoppable Texas Tech passing attack going up against the solid TCU defense that is always well prepared by head coach Gary Patterson.

Players to Know

Texas Tech freshman quarterback Alan Bowman is a major reason for their success with a 155.5 rating and 11 touchdown passes compared to just three interceptions. Bowman is averaging 8.44 yards per attempt and has completed 69% of his passes. Red Raiders junior wide receiver Antoine Wesley will be another key factor for live betting. He already has 38 receptions in five games with 16.3 yards per catch and five touchdowns.

TCU junior running back Darius Anderson is the top rusher on the team with 316 yards and 6.0 yards per carry with two touchdowns. It stands to figure that he should have a big night against the Red Raiders. Keep in mind Anderson ran for 154 yards on 12 carries against Ohio State earlier in the season.

Shawn Robinson is the sophomore quarterback for TCU hat has a 127.2 rating with seven touchdowns but also six interceptions. Robinson is capable as proven by his 308 yards passing against Ohio State.

Key Trends

TCU scored a 27-3 payout at Texas Tech last year as these teams went under the total for a second straight year. Tech has split their last two games at TCU against the line.

Free ATS Pick

Live betting will be enticing for Texas Tech backers when they trail as they have the weaponry to quickly get back in the game and cover as dogs. But the bad Red Raider defense must also be considered.

College Football Odds Pick: Texas Tech 35, TCU 30
