Terence Crawford vs Kell Brook Preview

Crawford won his first major title six-and-a-half years ago. He was 22-0 coming into his WBO lightweight title fight with Ricky Burns, and he won a unanimous decision to claim the strap. That victory was followed by two relatively easy title defenses against Yuriorkis Gamboa and Ray Beltran before he made the move to light welterweight.

We saw Crawford easily dispatch of Thomas Dulorme to win the WBO light welterweight belt. He successfully defended that title twice before facing Viktor Postol with the WBC and The Ring light welterweight straps on the line in July 2016. Crawford won a unanimous decision there and defended those three belts twice before fully unifying the division with a third-round knockout of Julius Indongo.

That victory led to Crawford going up another division to welterweight. He won the WBO welterweight title against Jeff Horn on June 2018, and he has successfully defended that title in his last three fights. This will be Crawford’s first fight in Las Vegas in more than four years.

Brook began his career more than 16 years ago, and that’s why he has 41 fights under his belt at the age of 34. He ran his record to 32-0 before receiving his first major title fight, a bout with Shawn Porter for the IBF welterweight belt. Brook won that bought by majority decision, and he defended the title three straight times with knockouts of opponents within the first six rounds.

Those victories led to a big payday as he moved up to middleweight to face Gennady Golovkin. Brook lost by fifth-round TKO, and then he lost his welterweight title almost a year later against Errol Spence Jr. He has responded with three straight victories though, so he might have more of a chance than the oddsmakers are giving him at this price.
