Undefeated WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis puts his belt on the line against undefeated challenger Frank Davis in a scheduled 12-round fight on Saturday, June 15 in Las Vegas. Tank has rolled through opponents with reckless abandon stopping 27 of 29 via KO. He enters the ring for the first time in over year as a massive -750 favorite on the early boxing betting lines. A three class champ, Davis also held the IBF and WBA super featherweight titles and the WBA super lightweight belt.
The first opponent after a long layoff is typically the hardest, which means Martin has something working in his favor. Despite that I don’t think the challenger is going to get much play going against one of if not the hottest property in boxing. Martin boasts a stellar undefeated record in 18 professional fights, but his list of opponents is a bit shaky. He outpointed Artem Harutyunyan in his last fight in July 2023 in what was likely his most difficult opponent to date. At +479 there is a healthy payout for what would be a major upset in the sport.

Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin Fight Preview
I guess when you’re as good as Davis you can make silly remarks that become locker room fodder for opponents. Davis last fought in April 2023 stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round in a non-title, catchweight fight. He knocked Garcia down twice with a lethal body shot serving as the deciding blow. His attention was taken out of the ring in the aftermath with legal issues keeping Tank out of the ring.
His absence hasn’t affected his star power, though. Davis is already talking about future fights with some of the biggest names in the 135 and 140 pound divisions currently loaded with talented fighters, including Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez. But, Davis has to get past Martin first and looking beyond a motivated challenger can prove to be fatal.
Winning all 29 of his professional fights with 27 of them by knockout, Davis has displayed the power and tenacity of a champion boxer. He’s currently among the top 10 in pound-for-pound rankings and No. 2 in the lightweight class, according to ESPN.
Davis has been involved in some sort of title fight since winning the IBF super featherweight title with a seventh round TKO of Jose Pedraza in 2017. Only one of his last 20 fights made it to the judges with Davis scoring a unanimous decision over Isaac Cruz in December 2021 to retain the WBA lightweight title that he won two years earlier by stopping Yuriorkis Gamboa in the 12th round.
Rarely do we see a boxer with the combination of speed, power and quickness that Davis displays. His exquisite footwork allows him to avoid a high percentage of offensive strikes from opponents. And with a KO/win rate of over 93 percent he can take down the best of boxers, much like he with Garcia in most recent bout.
The list of victims isn’t as glossy, but Martin did what he needed to in order to get a shot. He has three wins over unbeaten opponents in his last six fights, including a dominant unanimous decision over Michel Rivera in 2022. Both Martin and Rivera were ranked among the top 10 lightweights by The Ring at the time of the fight.
Bet Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin
We’ve seen it before where a heavy favorite overlooks his opponent. And that’s apparently what Davis is doing ahead of this matchup. There is no reason why Tank should lose this fight; he is an all-around better boxer with unlimited potential. However, talking about your next opponent is disrespectful and should motivate Martin making him an ideal candidate for a small wager with a healthy payout. If he’s all in Davis doesn’t lose this fight. However, with long odds backing an early round KO moves the numbers in your favor.
