Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez Boxing Betting

The unbeaten Dmitry Bivol will look to keep his unblemished record intact next week as he takes on fellow unbeaten Gilberto Ramirez. Bivol (20-0 with 11 knockouts) put himself on the map with his impressive victory over Canelo Alvarez during Cinco de Mayo Weekend. However, Ramirez (44-0 with 30 knockouts) is no slouch as a former super middleweight champion.

Dmitry Bivol vs Gilberto Ramirez Preview

Although he isn’t a household name in the sport, Dmitry Bivol is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world. Bivol became a professional fighter in 2014, and he knocked out his first six opponents. He secured the interim WBA light heavyweight belt in May 2016, and he was eventually promoted to the regular champion after title defenses against Robert Berridge and Samuel Clarkson.

Bivol has successfully defended the title nine times since being elevated to title holder in 2017. He knocked out Trent Broadhurst and Sullivan Barrera in his first two defenses, and he secured unanimous decision victories over his next seven opponents. While Bivol wasn’t able to end any of those fights early, he dominated all of those bouts.

That led to sharp action on Bivol when he faced Canelo Alvarez back in May. Alvarez was a favorite due to his popularity and pedigree, but Bivol completely dominated the fight and won a unanimous decision over the four-division champion. He outlanded Alvarez in every round, and it turns out he needed to thanks to the dubious judging we tend to see in big Alvarez fights.

Gilberto Ramirez is 44-0 over his 13-year career as a professional boxer. The former WBC Youth middleweight title holder has largely been overlooked, and he is out to show that he can beat an elite fighter in Bivol.

Ramirez claimed the WBO super middleweight belt with a unanimous decision victory over Arthur Abraham in April 2016. He successfully defended that title five times until he decided to make the move to light heavyweight following a narrow majority decision win over Jesse Hart in his final title defense.

We saw Ramirez beat Alfonso Lopez for the NABF light heavyweight belt in December 2020. Ramirez won the title with a 10th round TKO of Lopez, and he successfully defended the belt with a fourth-round knockout of Sullivan Barrera in his next fight. In his two most recent fights, Ramirez sent Yunieski Gonzalez and Dominic Boesel to the canvas to maintain a sterling record.

There is reason to believe that Ramirez can pull off the unlikely upset. He is a southpaw fighter, and that can be a challenge for opponents to deal with in spots, and he has a three-inch reach advantage over Bivol. Both fighters are 31, but Ramirez has seen a lot more action in the ring than Bivol.
