Devin Haney vs George Kambosos Jr. Boxing Betting

For the second time in four months, Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. will meet for the undisputed lightweight championship. Haney (28-0 with 15 knockouts) scored a unanimous decision victory over Kambosos Jr. back in June to retain his WBC lightweight title and claim the IBF, WBA, WBO, and The Ring lightweight belts. Kambosos (20-1 with 10 knockouts) had won three straight split decisions prior to that defeat, so he is looking to bounce back, but he is a heavy underdog according to the boxing betting odds.

The rematch between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr. will also take place in Australia, but in a smaller venue. Haney and Kambosos squared off in 50,000 seat Marvel Stadium in June, but they will face off at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne this time. Because of the international audience, the promotion is slated to start at 9:30 a.m. local time, and that will be 6:30 p.m. ET in the United States.

Devin Haney vs George Kambosos Jr. Betting Odds

Devin Haney -800

George Kambosos Jr. +521

In the first fight between these two lightweights, Devin Haney was given the edge. Haney was a -170 favorite against Kambosos, but he is now a much bigger favorite by the boxing betting odds after his previous performance. At this price, you would need to bet $800 on Haney to win $100 in profit.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Devin Haney vs George Kambosos Jr. Preview

George Kambosos Jr. is fully aware that the pressure is on ahead of his rematch with Devin Haney. In the media interviews during the run-up to this fight, Kambosos referenced that he is the old man in a group of talented, young lightweights saying, “It’s a great division but for me, I’m 29 so for me it’s do or die.” His opponent, Devin Haney, won’t turn 24 until November, and fellow top lightweight Teofimo Lopez is just 25 years old.

That being said, Kambosos Jr. was relatively unknown outside of Australia until a couple years ago. Kambosos won a handful of regional titles on his way to moving to 17-0, but he first gained real acclaim with his split decision win over former IBF lightweight champion Mickey Bey at Madison Square Garden on December 2019. He followed that up with a split decision victory over former IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby in London two years ago, setting up a showdown with Teofimo Lopez.

Lopez was a heavy favorite per the boxing betting odds against Kambosos after controlling the action against Vasyl Lomachenko on his way to moving to 16-0 and claiming the IBF, WBA, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. However, Kambosos knocked down Lopez in the first round and did enough to win his third straight split decision.

Devin Haney might be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world right now. Haney has been extremely impressive despite his youth, and there has not been a doubt about any of his victories. He first won the WBC lightweight title in September 2019 at the age of 20, and he defended that belt four times before defeating Kambosos in June.

Haney hasn’t knocked out an opponent in over three years, but he has a devastating quick jab that allows him to control the action. He was extremely successful in using that punch to stop Kambosos in his tracks in the first fight, and the champion is likely to use the same strategy in the rematch. Haney has a three-inch reach advantage over Kambosos, so he is the boxer to back in the rematch.
