Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde Boxing Odds

Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde Boxing Betting

It’s a real shame that Artur Beterbiev (18-0, 18 knockouts) didn’t become a professional fighter until he was 28 ½ years old. Beterbiev is considered one of the top ten pound-for-pound fighters in the world, but he was an amateur for almost a decade. He was a two-time gold medal winner at the European Championships at light heavyweight, and he won a silver medal and a gold medal at the World Championships. However, Beterbiev didn’t turn pro until June 2013, and he is already in his late 30s before his 20th fight. All 18 of Beterbiev’s previous fights have ended with him winning by knockout, and he will look to do the same thing to Anthony Yarde (23-2, 22 knockouts) on the last weekend of January.

One of the first big PPV events of the new year will happen across the pond on January 28, 2023. IBF, WBC, and WBO light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev will face Anthony Yarde in the main event of an ESPN+ PPV that will take place at the OVO Arena in London.

When: Saturday, January 28, 2023

Where: OVO Arena Wembley, London, United Kingdom

Why: IBF, WBC, WBO light heavyweight titles

Artur Beterbiev vs Anthony Yarde Preview

We were originally supposed to see Artur Beterbiev square off against Anthony Yarde on Halloween weekend. However, Beterbiev had to pull out of the fight due to an injury and it was rescheduled three months later. Originally, Beterbiev was an even bigger favorite by the boxing betting line, but there are a few doubts after his injury.

Many people in the boxing world are hoping that Beterbiev wins this fight so he can take on countryman Dmitry Bivol for the unified light heavyweight title later in the year. Bivol has become a huge name after beating Canelo Alvarez last May, and he is unbeaten too with a 21-0 record.

Beterbiev has been incredible to date with his substantial knockout power. None of his first eight opponents were able to last more than four rounds in the ring with him, and only Enrico Kolling has made it past the 10th round. That happened in his initial title fight for the IBF light heavyweight belt in November 2017. He has successfully defended that belt six times now, and he added the WBC title with a win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk and the WBO belt last June with a second-round TKO of Joe Smith Jr.

Anthony Yarde started his professional career with 18 straight wins before he faced Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light heavyweight title. Yarde ran out of gas and was knocked out in the 11th round of that fight, but he stood toe-to-toe with Kovalev for eight rounds.

He followed up that defeat with quick knockouts of his next two opponents, but he lost a split decision to Lyndon Arthur in December 2020. Yarde avenged that defeat a year later with a fourth-round knockout, and he has now knocked out his last three foes inside of four rounds ahead of this showdown.
