The Duke Blue Devils are one of the favorites to win the ACC Tournament even though they wrapped the regular season as the fifth best team in the conference. In playing to six games under .500 in league play and just two games up overall, it comes as no surprise to see the Clemson Tigers heavy underdogs to pull the same feat, and with that, will be getting a handful of points for this second round matchup....
You never want to lose games, but the Cavaliers mini downward spiral in the middle of February just might have been the saving grace the team needed to snag itself a higher seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. In being tabbed the No. 6 seed, it now gets to take on a Pittsburgh Panthers squad many would anoint the easiest opponent to face in the second round of the ACC tournament. They also get to play them unrested after just destroying them in Charlottesville this past weekend....
Having just run up against one another over the weekend, both the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Virginia Tech Hokies will have a pretty good idea of how the other team will likely attack them in the second round of the ACC Tournament. While both of these teams each look to be in the Big Dance, another win here would help solidify their seed even more. With that, look for both clubs to go all out in hopes of advancing....
The top seeded Vermont Catamounts will look to go unblemished in conference play when they take on the Albany Great Danes in the America East Tournament championship game. The latter will be looking to punch its ticket back to the NCAA Tournament after a year hiatus, while the latter will be looking to return for the first time since 2012. These teams partook in a pair of low scorers in the regular season. That didn’t work for the Great Danes. They’ll need to score the basketball to have a shot at ending the Catamounts 20-game win streak....
Both the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Iowa State Cyclones enter this tilt off tough losses with the former dropping one at home on Senior Day to the No. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks and the latter having its six-game win streak snapped in Morgantown by the Mountaineers. These teams just met up on the last day of February in a game the Cyclones held on to win 86-83 but failed to cover. Thursday’s Big 12 Tournament action no doubt kicks off with a doozy!...
The Indiana Hoosiers were one of the biggest disappointments in the Big Ten, but Tom Crean’s squad can take one step closer towards sweeping their regular season campaign under the rug by getting past the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 10/7 matchup of the Big Ten Tournament. These teams played to a thrilling 96-90 final won by Iowa in overtime back in late February which snapped the Hoosiers two game win streak in the recent rivalry....
If anyone took fliers on any other team making the West Coast Conference tournament finals than the St. Mary’s Gaels or Gonzaga Bulldogs, they didn’t stay up late taking in much west coast action throughout the regular season. To the surprise of nobody, the two top ranked seeds will square off in the championship game on Tuesday night with the Gaels looking to avoid getting owned by the Zags for the third straight time....
Teams like Wichita State, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville State and Winthrop have already punched their tickets to the 2017 NCAA Tournament by winning their respective conference tournaments. The big boy tournaments begin this week which offers up a number of teams on the bubble a shot at punching theirs as well. Let’s take a look at a handful of teams that could either qualify for the Big Dance by winning it all or by making a deep run....
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits slayed the best team in the Summit League last time out to pull within one game of making the NCAA Tournament. To get there, they will have to knock off the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks....
The Milwaukee Panthers were the worst team in the Horizon League during the regular season and lost more than two-thirds of their overall games. They were expected to finish their season quietly but have had other ideas, advancing to the conference championship game against the Northern Kentucky Norse....
The NCAA Tournament will be welcoming one team from the Patriot League, and it’s down to the final two entrants. The top-seeded Bucknell Bison hope to exact some revenge on conference foe the Lehigh Mountain Hawks to punch its ticket....
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are squarely on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament, with their performance in the ACC Tournament set to determine their fate. They figure to be on the outside looking in if they can’t defeat the Boston College Eagles in the first round of the conference tournament this week....
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have an outside shot of making March Madness, but need to rack up some victories in the ACC Tournament to turn the heads of the selection committee. Their journey will begin with a matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers....

The old adage of it being hard to beat a team three straight times will be put to the test in this one with the tourney’s top seed sweeping both regular season confrontations....
Neither the No. 1 or No. 2 seeds will partake in the title game of the MAAC Tournament on Monday night. Instead, the No. 4 seed Siena Saints will attempt to punch their ticket to the Big Dance for the first time since 2010 against the No. 3 seed Iona Gaels who just so happened to eliminate them in the semifinals of last year’s tourney. These teams split their regular season battles, so this is sure to be a war till the bitter end....
There won’t be any surprises out of the Colonial Athletic Association with the top two teams battling for the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The UNC Wilmington Seahawks ended the regular season one game better than the Charleston Cougars and the two were easily the best teams in the league. They’ll meet in the CAA tournament final with one having its six-game winning streak end and the other celebrating a trip to the Big Dance....
The first game of the Big Ten tournament is set to tip late Wednesday afternoon, and man is it ugly on paper. The No. 12 Nebraska Cornhuskers and No. 13 Penn State Nittany Lions will cross paths in the first round of the second season for the second time in the last three seasons having last squared off in 2015. That speaks volumes for just how bad these basketball programs have been in recent years....
Though both the Miami Hurricanes and Syracuse Orange find themselves on the right side of the bubble heading into big boy tourney week, each would love nothing more than to go on a deep run in the ACC Tournament so as to improve upon their potential seeding come the Big Dance. Joe Lunardi of ESPN currently has the Canes listed as No. 7 seeds in the West and the Orange a No. 10 seed in the East....
Is the third time the charm for the Brigham Young Cougars against the St. Mary’s Gaels? After barely squeezing by Loyola Marymount, toppling the No. 2 seed in the West Coast Conference tournament doesn’t appear to be in the cards for BYU, but St. Mary’s should at least be a bit more challenged than they were on Saturday night when they cruised to an easy win over Portland in their first game of the conference tourney....
A huge second half in the quarterfinals helped push the Santa Clara Broncos into the semis as Jared Brownridge dominated the floor for 40 minutes. The win over San Francisco was impressive, but can the Broncos go one further and upset Gonzaga Bulldogs on Monday night? The Broncos came into the West Coast Conference tournament as the conference’s No. 4 seed, but the Bulldogs are the No. 4 team in the nation, using this tournament to get ready for the Big Dance....
The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers finished the regular season with the best record in the Northeast Conference and will get to host Tuesday’s final against the St. Francis Red Flash as a result. St. Francis is trying to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1991, while Mount St. Mary’s has made the tourney three times in its history. The winner here will likely receive a No. 16 seed, but just getting to the Big Dance is an accomplishment....
Two of the best mid-majors in college basketball will square off on Sunday afternoon when the Wichita State Shockers and Illinois State Redbirds meet for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. These teams met twice in the regular season, with each winning at home, and now face off with the conference’s automatic bid on the line. The loser should still make the tournament, but you never know how the committee will rank mid-majors....
The Ohio Valley Conference is going to send a team to the dance that has never made the NCAA Tournament before. After the Jacksonville State Gamecocks and UT-Martin Skyhawks both emerged victorious on Friday night, we were guaranteed to see a team reach the tournament for the first time ever and now these teams square off to see who it will be. UT-Martin will likely be the favorite, but Jacksonville State knocked off the No. 1 overall seed Belmont and will be a tough match....
Chris Clemons has put the Campbell Fighting Camels on his back and is trying to take them to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992. The 5’9 guard has torched two higher ranked teams in the first three rounds of the Big South Tournament and is now looking to show his stuff against the host team. The Winthrop Eagles have shined throughout the season, but did lose a few nail biters in conference and have to watch out with how Clemons is playing....
