Newcastle United at Arsenal - English Soccer Picks

It’s been a banner year for Arsenal. The Gunners are set to win the Premier League for the first time since their undefeated 2003-04 campaign, and they are 10 points clear of both Liverpool and Manchester City. April Fools! Arsenal are having a solid first season under Unai Emery, but the Gunners won’t sniff the Premier League title. They are looking likely to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in three seasons with a top four finish though. Arsenal need to keep winning though, and they are heavily favored to beat Newcastle United on Monday.

Odds Analysis

Newcastle United can breathe a sigh of relief. The Magpies have moved their way out of the relegation zone with a string of solid results, and they are now one of the hottest teams in the Premier League. They are 5-2-2 over their last nine games, and they have been much better on offense than they were at the beginning of the season. They have scored multiple goals in four of their last five matches.

The Gunners are sitting in fourth place in the Premier League standings, and they are just one point behind Tottenham Hotspur. There’s a good chance a win would move them into third place since their London rivals are facing Liverpool in Anfield on Sunday, and that would give them even more breathing room with Manchester United and Chelsea right behind them in the standings. Arsenal are happy to be playing a non-Big Six club after consecutive matches agains Tottenham and Manchester United, and the Gunners got the draw against Spurs and beat Manchester United.

It wasn’t easy for Arsenal in their first match against Newcastle, but they got the job done. Granit Xhaka opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 49th minute and Mesut Ozil followed up with a goal in the 58th minute to give Arsenal some space. It turns out they needed that as Ciaran Clark scored in injury time for Newcastle.

Key Injuries

Sean Longstaff is out for the season for Newcastle after tearing his PCL. He is likely going to miss a bit of time next year too as he recovers from the injury. Rob Elliot has been ruled out as he continues to rehab from lower back surgery, and both Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles are considered probable.

There are a number of injuries for Arsenal. Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding, and Hector Bellerin are long-term injuries for the Gunners, and none of those three players will return this season. Lucas Torreira will be serving a suspension after picking up a red card against Tottenham. Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka are both questionable, while Nacho Monreal is probable.

Player to Watch

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been one of the most consistent finishers in the Premier League. He has 17 goals on the year (just one behind league leader Sergio Aguero), and he came up big in leading Arsenal to the Europa League Quarterfinals.

Prop Bet – Over 3.5 Goals +144

I think this one can be very high scoring. Arsenal have been more than keen to open things up, and Newcastle have been more willing to match. The Magpies have been much better since Miguel Almiron too, and that should lead to an explosive match.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

This is going to be fun. Arsenal and Newcastle look like teams that are more than willing to duke it out, and I think the over is a great play. The Gunners will get the win, but it will be close.

English Premier League Odds: Arsenal 3, Newcastle United 2
