Odds Analysis

The Galaxy sit in third place in the Western Conference standings with an 11-8-1 record coming into this game. They have alternated wins and losses since the end of May, and if that holds true, they are due to pull off the upset win per the soccer betting odds.

This team has had some trouble at home in recent weeks though. The Galaxy have lost four of their last five games at home, scoring a total of four goals in those five games in Carson. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was responsible for three of those four goals, and Ibra’s three scores all came past the 75-miunte mark.

LAFC are on a rampage. They have lost just twice this season, and they are lapping the field in almost every category you can imagine. Their 53 goals are 14 more than any other team in the league, and their 17 goals allowed are 5 less than the next closest team.

The best team in the MLS has won three straight games by two goals or more, reliably blasting opponents. Their play has been reminiscent of a young Barcelona, and barring injury they should finish with the best regular season record by a mile.

Key Absences

The Galaxy will be without midfielder Romain Alessandrini for at least another month after he underwent knee surgery at the end of April. His return will be a big boost whenever he comes back. Midfielders Chris Pontius and Sebastian Lletget are questionable due to injuries.

Midfielder Javi Perez is set to miss the rest of the season for LAFC after tearing his ACL in late May. Perez was selected by the club in the SuperDraft earlier this season, and the club is looking forward to the youngster returning next year. Midfielder Alejandro Guido is questionable with a strained quad and defender Danilo Silva is questionable with a strained hamstring.

Player to Watch

Carlos Vela is on pace to have the best season we have ever seen from a player in the MLS. He leads the league with 19 goals, despite only taking two penalties, and his 12 assists are tied for the most in the league as well. Vela is essential to Bob Bradley’s system, and his role in running the offense has led to everyone around him being better too.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

LAFC’s two losses this season have been 1-0 road losses against opponents that allowed LAFC to take the lion’s share of possession but packed the box and countered when necessary. That is not a way that the Galaxy are accustomed to playing, as they prefer to open up the field. That will prove deadly for the hosts, but it will be a fun match to watch as both teams have their chances. LAFC will prove to be better at finishing theirs though.

Major League Soccer Odds: Los Angeles FC 3, Los Angeles Galaxy 1
