Trump Punts Press Conferences… For Now

In the eyes of even his strongest supporters President Donald Trump’s daily COVID-19 Task Force Committee press conferences had gotten out of hand. The “Trump Show’ was often too long and rambling. Combined with that was the utter ignorance and “gotcha” attitude of the Democrat steno pool that masquerades as “objective journalists” reporting “news.”

Worst of all, many citizens wanting honest assessments and information about the coronavirus became frustrated with the daily two-hour marathon press briefings because they didn’t address their concerns.

Then, further adding to the problem, Trump “stepped in it” on Thursday. It capped off one of the worst weeks of the Trump Presidency.

2020 US Presidential Election Odds Overview and Analysis

President Trump remains a slight favorite to be reelected in November despite a steep drop in economic numbers based on the COVID-19 shutdown. Joe Biden has been “Hidin’” in his basement with a few brief platitude statements that offer nothing of substance to set himself apart. Right now, the race is in a holding pattern. The big questions remain about if Biden will even make it to the starting gate and who will the Democrat vice presidential nominee be?

Trump Steps in It

Regardless of whether or not it was the rambling thoughts and questions born from curiosity, President Trump was not precise enough in his verbiage at last Thursday’s COVID-19 press conference. By the end of the day he said enough in the wrong way to allow the full court liberal press to claim that that he had encouraged people to drink bleach in order to treat the coronavirus.

The mistake Trump made, and has long been flirting with, is that he is facing a media that is, in fact, the publicity department for the Democrat Party. These activist Democrats rarely address the concerns of actual citizens in regards to COVID-19 but instead bring the full 11-man blitz in trying to sack Trump into making a verbal gaffe. Trump gave them just enough to allow for wild accusations that were every bit as imprecise as Trump’s actual statement but yet taken by half of the country as “news.”

A Lie Gets Halfway Around the World Before the Truth Gets its Boots On

On Friday Politico came out with a story that Trump owed a Chinese Communist Bank over $200 million on a loan for Trump properties. The story ran for a day with the implication being that current COVID-19 and China policy would be dictated on Trump owing China money.

Breitbart nuked the story the following day with a piece that was so well sourced and fact based that it forced Politico into retreat. Politico rewrote the original story and changed the headline from Trump “OWES” money to instead read Trump “OWED” money.

Of course, the damage had already been done. This was yet another example of the media putting out either deliberate lies or purposefully incomplete journalism only to come back and “correct” it after the original bomb was dropped.

No More Press Conferences

President Trump announced on Friday that there will be no more press conferences and that they were a waste of time. The statement is disingenuous in that Trump has been playing with fire for several weeks, knowing that the press corps are Democrats with bylines. The President is fortunate that Americans have notoriously short memories.
