Markos said this to ufc.com about her upcoming fight against Dern, “Having Mackenzie Dern as my opponent, I think it’s great because it’s a step forward, a step up in the rankings, and it’s a really good matchup. She lost to the same person I lost to, Amanda Ribas, and we both beat the same person, Ashley Yoder, so this will show which of us is better and who deserves (to move forward) more. I don’t look at it as, ‘Oh man, I’m fighting Mackenzie Dern.’ She’s fighting me! I’ve been doing this for a long time. Yeah, she’s got a big name behind her and a huge following, but that doesn’t mean anything; that doesn’t mean much when it comes to skills and techniques. She does have great jiu-jitsu and I’m not going to overlook that because she’s been doing that stuff for a long time, but it’s going to be a great fight and great competition for me.”

UFC Picks

Markos has struggled in the UFC lately, winning two of her last six fights and most people are picking Dern in this fight. I am a little leery, as the odds worry me a bit. I expected to see Dern listed as more than a 2-1 favorite and yet she is not. I see a big red flashing danger sign on this fight so I am going to pass on a side. Neither of these two has a lot of power, so unless there is a submission, this fight should go the distance. I will go over the rounds total in this bout.
