NFL Week 5 Ugly Dog Picks - NFL Betting Odds

NFL Week 5 Ugly Dog Picks

Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? We are off to a sizzling start this season, winning every single week with a combined mark of 13-5 ATS through the first four weeks of the season. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We had five plays last week and we have another five games to look at for this week. Let’s look at the NFL Week 5 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 5 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

Pittsburgh Steelers +14 at Buffalo Bills

I said this last week with the Patriots that I couldn’t think of an uglier dog than New England going into Green Bay and yet the Patriots nearly won the game outright. This game on Sunday looks even worse, as the Steelers go into Buffalo to face the Bills. The Steelers are expected to start a rookie quarterback against a Buffalo team that is very good on defense. This looks like a complete rout in favor of the Bills and it could get really ugly, but that is the point. We’ll take the Steelers plus the points as an ugly dog.

Chicago Bears +7 at Minnesota Vikings

The Bears are 2-2 but they are not a good football team. Chicago is still putting their faith in Justin Fields as their quarterback but he looks lost. The Vikings are not a trustworthy favorite, so perhaps Chicago can hang around, but there is very little to like about the Bears right now and they are definitely an ugly dog. We take the Bears plus the points.

Washington Commanders +2.5 vs. Tennessee Titans

This is another game where the dog looks ugly, as the Commanders are poorly coached and have problems all over the field. Carson Wentz does not look like the answer at quarterback and Washington’s defense has issues. The Titans looked much better last week in a win over the Colts and this looks like it should be a Tennessee win. This is one game where you may want to wait until kickoff, as the line is likely to go up to at least three. We take the ugly dog Commanders plus the points.

Houston Texans +7.5 at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Texans are the only winless team in the NFL and they have all kinds of problems. We know that Lovie Smith can’t coach so there is no chance of this team getting any better. Davis Mills makes a few plays but he makes far more mistakes. The Jaguars are definitely improved this season and they might very well win the AFC South. The Texans figure to be in this column a lot this season as an ugly dog. We take the points with Houston as an ugly dog.

Carolina Panthers +4.5 vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Panthers are another team that looks like they are going to be a regular in this column. The Panthers thought that Baker Mayfield could be the answer at quarterback but he has not played well so far this season. The 49ers haven’t been anything special but they look better on both sides of the ball than the Panthers. We take the Panthers as an ugly dog.
