NFL Week 16 Ugly Dog Picks - NFL Betting Odds

NFL Week 16 Ugly Dog Picks

Are you ready for another week of ugly dog picks in the NFL? We are coming off a 2-2 record last week that takes the season record to 35-27-2 ATS. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. We have five games to look at for this week.

Let’s look at the NFL Week 16 Ugly Dog picks.

Week 16 Ugly Dog Picks

Let me point out one fact that you are probably already aware of. When you bet these games, you are usually better off waiting until Sunday morning to make your wagers because you will probably get a better number than what I list from earlier in the week.

Chicago Bears +9 vs. Buffalo Bills

We picked up a win last week with the Bears as they covered the big number against the Eagles. Despite that pointspread cover, the Bears are still an ugly dog, especially in this game against Buffalo. The Bills are the top teams in the AFC and they have more talent on both sides of the ball than Chicago does. The Bears did play hard last week and they are at home, so perhaps they can keep this game close, but it is still hard to take a Chicago team that can’t stop anyone. We’ll take the Bears as an ugly dog.

Houston Texans +7 at Tennessee Titans

The Texans are the worst team in the NFL but at least they played hard last week and got us a pointspread cover against the Chiefs. Will Houston be able to do it again this week against Tennessee? The Titans are not playing well at all and their division lead is nearly gone, so this is a huge game for Tennessee. The Texans seem to be getting a lot of credit for staying with the Chiefs last week, but this is still not a good Houston team. The Titans should be able to right the ship this week and that is another reason why this game looks ugly. We take the Texans plus the points as an ugly dog.

Atlanta Falcons +7.5 at Baltimore Ravens

The Falcons didn’t look any better last week with Desmond Ridder at quarterback than they did with Marcus Mariota. The Falcons have just four wins on the season and they don’t figure to win in Baltimore. The Ravens have struggled badly on offense without Lamar Jackson, but all indications are that he will return this week. The Ravens are still in a playoff position in the AFC but it now looks like they are going to finish behind Cincinnati in the division. This should be a game where Baltimore gets things going in the right direction. We’ll take the Falcons as an ugly dog.

Arizona Cardinals +6 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Cardinals have all kinds of problems on both sides of the ball and on the sidelines, as people are calling for head coach Kliff Kingsbury to be fired. This Arizona team has been a massive disappointment this season and things don’t figure to get any better this week. The Cardinals are without starting quarterback Kyler Murray and backup Colt McCoy so it is expected that third-string quarterback Trace McSorley will get the start against Tampa Bay. The Bucs haven’t been playing well either, but this is definitely a good spot for them. We’ll take the Cardinals as an ugly dog.

Indianapolis Colts +4.5 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Colts are coming off a game in which they blew the biggest lead in NFL history, as they led 33-0 against Minnesota and then lost. The Chargers have all of the looks of a team that can get into the playoffs in the AFC and do some damage. The Colts have the look of a team that could easily fall apart. It won’t help the cause this week, as they won’t have running back Jonathan Taylor due to injury. We’ll take the Colts as an ugly dog.
