NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting Odds

Week 2 is the best week of the 3-week Preseason. That is because most teams will want to get their regulars at least some action before the final week of the exhibition late. Next week, teams will focus on marginal players trying to make the final roster cut. Week 2 ends with an attractive ESPN matchup of the Baltimore Ravens at Washington Commanders. Washington has been making more headlines than anyone else in the preseason. First, the Commanders are finally rid of the scourge known as owner Dan Snyder. And there is hopeful talk of the franchise restoring the nickname “Redskins” in the 2024 campaign.

Additional news was made last week when head coach Ron Rivera first called out and then backed off rants on the demanding ways of new offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy and the hyper-sensitive players' reactions to their OCs ways.

2023 NFL Preseason Week 2 Overview

The largest line of Week 2 sees the Kansas City Chiefs as a strong 7-point road favorite at the Arizona Cardinals. It is a preseason matchup pitting the reigning Super Bowl champions against a team many are projecting to be the worst in the league this season. Kansas City is coming off a loss at the New Orleans Saints and will want to show better at Arizona. By contrast, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a 1-point away chalk at the New York Jets in what is the shortest Week 2 line.

At the onset, road teams are favored in half of the 16 games. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills are a rarity in the NFL Preseason, showing a total for their game of 40 points.

2023 NFL Preseason Week Two Best Bets

Baltimore Ravens -3.5 at Washington Commanders

Last week, resting all of their regulars, the Baltimore Ravens started Josh Johnson at quarterback against the Eagles. The Ravens were down 13-7. Then Justin Tucker drilled a 60-yard field goal on the last play of the first half, and the rally was on.

Subsequently, Baltimore scored the first 10 points in the second half and hung on for another NFL Preseason win. In turn, Baltimore beating the Washington Commanders looks like a safe bet. During their preseason win streak, the Ravens are 5-0 straight up against them. That includes a 2-0 SU and against the spread record at Washington.

Houston Texans -5 vs. Miami Dolphins

CJ Stroud may be the QB of the future for the Texans, but Davis Mills showed he can still be a presence. The rookie Stroud was just 2-of-4 for 13 yards in his NFL Preseason debut against the New England Patriots. By contrast, last year’s Houston starter Mills came off the bench and went 9-of-12 for 99 yards and a TD.However, the defense was the real story for the Texans. Houston held the Patriots to 164 yards and 3-for-12 on third-down conversions while making three sacks.

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel sat out 31 veterans in a 19-3 Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. As a result, gamblers believe he’s more interested in determining which players will be filling out the bottom of his roster.
