At the onset of the week is excitement about the first full week of NFL Preseason football. However, gamblers will scramble to keep up with the continuous lineup changes. For the established NFL contenders, the main objective is to escape the exhibition season without a major injury. Beyond that, these contenders will focus on working with new players and discovering role players to add to roster depth. Although NFL exhibition games don’t remotely resemble the regular season intensity and quality, it is football. And for millions of gamblers and fans, that is enough.

Packers Enter the Preseason World of the Unknown

The Green Bay Packers will be one of the most watched teams in the 2023 NFL preseason. Aaron Rodgers’ Neighborhood is no more. Jordan Love takes over as the Green Bay starting quarterback after three years as Rodgers’ caddy. That opens up all kinds of factors to consider for the preseason. Head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst refuse to call the 2023 season a rebuild. But the reality remains to be seen.

Of great concern is that Green Bay has no immediate plans to sign a veteran receiver or bring in an experienced quarterback behind first-year starterJordan Love. Overall, the Packers are much younger in 2023.

With only two players on the roster older than 30, the biggest challenge and concern with this inexperienced roster is clear to coach Matt LaFleur.

While official rosters data with average age and experience level won’t be calculated until Week 1 rosters are set, the Packers are certain to be one of the youngest teams in the league.

Last year, they ranked 16th with an average age of 25.96. This year, there are nearly 30 players who could be considered good bets to make the 53-man roster under the age of 26. Although LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst have refuted thatthe Packers are rebuilding, they are all-in with the idea of a young roster.

However, today’s reality is that it’s harder now to be successful with younger players than just a decade ago. Cause by changes in the collective bargaining agreement shorted the offseason program, limited practice time in training camp, and eliminated a preseason game. On the whole, Green Bay will offer gamblers the most fascinating preseason of any NFL team.

2023 NFL Preseason Week One Best Bets

Baltimore Ravens -3 over Philadelphia Eagles

John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens have reeled off 23 consecutive exhibition victories and are favored to push that number to 24 when they face the Eagles as 3-point favorites.

New York Jets -2.5 over Carolina Panthers

Gamblers are not likely to see Aaron Rodgers in this contest. Still, New York’s backup QBs are loaded with experience. After flopping as a rookie starter, Zach Wilson is making tremendous strides in his development. Tim Boyle and Chris Streveler are also on the roster, each with NFL regular season experience.

The most anticipated debut of the preseason will be that of Carolina’s Bryce Young. The number one pick has already been named the Panthers starter and is expected to get plenty of reps this month, along with second-year pivot Matt Corral. We should expect a steep learning curve for Young, especially in his first outing.
