Kansas City Chiefs Season Win Total

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the class of the NFL ever since Andy Reid handed the offensive reigns over to Patrick Mahomes back in 2018. Though the Chiefs won the AFC West the two prior seasons, it’s only been the last three that KC has been a bona fide Super Bowl contender with regularity. Last year was more of the same as the Chiefs found themselves playing on Super Bowl Sunday for the second straight season. Unfortunately, Kansas City wasn’t able to see it all the way through that time around. After watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make minced meat of their makeshift offensive line, the front office went out and shored the problem area up in big way. That should have the rest of the NFL on high alert, while at the same time have prop and futures bettors salivating over the prospects of another high scoring Kansas City offense that could result in Mahomes’ second MVP Award +400. KC’s 12.5-game season win total odds are a full game higher than that of the team that just beat them in LV. No wonder they’re the current odds on favorites to hoist the Lombardi Trophy following Super Bowl LVI’s conclusion.

Kansas City Chiefs Season Win Total: 12.5 Under -138

Online sportsbooks took a bath with the Chiefs a season ago after they easily toppled their 11.5-game win total in logging 14 regular season wins. Unsurprisingly, it’s only two defeats came within the division against the Raiders and Chargers in a pair of high scorers. With the regular season now extended to 18 weeks, KC’s win total hit the board at 12. Since then, it’s been a steady upwards climb to 12.5 though heavier juice is currently attached to the low side of the number. Why anyone in their right mind would want to fade Mahomes in the prime of his career is beyond me. Love him or hate him, the kid gets results. Know what else is pretty consistent? Andy Reid’s ability to cash over tickets. Since taking the gig back in 2013, the Chiefs have gone on to surpass their season win total odds eight straight times. Only twice during that stretch did it just come in. With the injury bug unkind a season ago, Kansas City’s due some positive regression in the injury department. The Chiefs over might just be as easy as setting it and forgetting it, so don’t’ overthink it!

Kansas City Chiefs Season Win Total Analysis

While the schedule kicks-off with a meat grinder that includes the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills and Washington Football team in five of the first six weeks, the overall schedule is very manageable. Along with six divisional bouts, the defending AFC champs get the AFC North and NFC East as well as standalone games against the aforementioned Bills, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans. As tough the start is, it would be very surprising to see Kansas City drop more than two of those games. The Week 7 road trip to Nissan Stadium could result in a loss should Derrick Henry run roughshod, but they then get the Giants, Packers and Cowboys at home with a road trip to Las Vegas sprinkled in. Following the Week 12 bye, four of the final six games come against AFC West opposition. KC has only lost four of its last 30 divisional tussles! They’ll also host a Steelers team I’m not high on, and will also have to venture into Cincinnati to take on Joe Burrow provided upper management’s decision not to draft his blindside blocker of the future doesn’t end his season prematurely once again.

The additions of Joe Thuney, Orlando Brown and Kyle Long will undoubtedly help solidify last season’s offensive weak link. You’re fooling yourself if you don’t believe Mahomes, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce and other potent pieces to the puzzle won’t be in line for another banner campaign on the offensive side of the ball. All opposition can attempt to play keep away as much as it likes in hopes of taking advantage of the Chiefs leaky run defense. Mahomes has proven time and time again that time never gets in the way of him coming out on top. So long as he’s fully healed from the nagging injuries that affected him a season ago, the Chiefs will be in line for a number of wins this upcoming season.

In perusing the schedule, I find it darn near close to impossible to scope out five losses. At first glance, I’ll circle Week 6 and 15 as potential landmines. Sorry, but Cleveland won’t win in Arrowhead Week 1 and I don’t buy anything Lamar Jackson is selling. If Josh Allen and the Bills go into Arrowhead and avenge their AFC title game loss, so be it. That would still only be three losses. Provided the injury bug doesn’t derail the season, Kansas City is simply just too good to fade right now or for the foreseeable future so long as No. 15 is under center. Gimme the over at a nice plus-money return!
