Indianapolis Colts Season Win Total

The third season of the Frank Reich regime saw the Indianapolis Colts win 11 games for the first time since someone by the name of Andrew Luck was running the offense. That makes it two double-digit win outputs through Reich’s first three seasons calling the shots in Indy. Linemakers are expecting another successful season to play out within Lucas Oil Stadium with the Colts clocking in as one of only nine teams to own the distinction of owning a 10+ game win total. But will it amount to the first AFC South title under Reich’s watch - an achievement yet to be earned in his first three calling the shots. While Philip Rivers did a yeoman’s job running the offensive attack last season, his retirement forced upper management to go in a different direction for 2021-22 by mortgaging the future on former beleaguered Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz. The Colts ponied up a pretty penny to gain his services. The decision to do so will ultimately prove to be a success if in fact Indy punches a second straight ticket to the postseason. It’s first division title since 2014 would be the cherry on top.

Indianapolis Colts Season Win Total: 10 Under -137

The Colts have surpassed their season win total odds at online sportsbooks twice under the new coaching staff’s watch. That said, the team did so last year by taking advantage of what was considered to be the easiest schedule strength of all 32 teams. Four of its defeats came against teams that qualified for the playoffs. Many are still scratching their heads as to how they lost at Jacksonville to open the season. Regardless, linemakers expect 10 wins from Indianapolis but it doesn’t look like the betting markets are in agreeance with an attractive +117 return currently attached to the low side of the offering.

Indianapolis Colts Season Win Total Analysis

The first five weeks of the regular season are likely to make or break the Colts chances of surpassing its season win total odds. It gets the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams at home in the first two games. The NFC West rivals finished No. 1 and No. 2 in last year’s standings, and each punched a ticket to the playoffs. Then over the next three weeks, Indianapolis will hit the road for Tennessee, Miami and Baltimore. The Titans figure to be their only obstacle in winning the AFC South for the first time in six seasons, while the Dolphins are expected to compete with the Bills for AFC East bragging rights and the Ravens are co-favorites to win the AFC North. Week 6 should be a much needed breather against the defunct Texans, but then it’s the 49ers on the road followed by the Titans at home in the rematch. Then don’t forget about the defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers in Week 12 the week after going to Buffalo looking to avenge its playoff defeat. While there are also a number of “gimmes” on the schedule, I’m not buying it being considered one of the easier schedule strengths going. Sharp Football Stats has it labeled as the 12th easiest schedule overall. I think it will ultimately be tougher than that.

Now, if Carson Wentz is able to seamlessly run the offense without skipping a beat, Indy will crush this number. For that to occur, he’s going to have to be on the same page as TY Hilton, Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell and his tight end duo right from the onset. There won’t be any honeymoon period as ruthless the schedule is out of the gates. So long as the offensive line is able to replace Anthony Castonzo with Eric Fisher in short order, Wentz will have a potent ground attack to rely upon with Jonathan Taylor looking to erupt in his sophomore campaign. Then there’s the defense that took major steps in the right direction obliterating opposing running games and forcing the sixth most turnovers. Everything is there for the Colts to not only make a run at the division title, but also win the Super Bowl. Much would have to go right for it to occur, and I’m simply not sold on either of its two main offseason acquisitions. Gimme the under; at the very least I think it’s a push!
