Amari Cooper Receiving Yards Prop Betting

Amari Cooper looked rejuvenated after bolting the city of Oakland for Big D. His production ramped up in a hurry which has many prognosticators at online sportsbooks and fantasy footballers of the belief that a full offseason under the belt in the Cowboys’ system will have Cooper ready to explode in 2019-20. Currently being selected late in the third round of fantasy football drafts, Cooper will have every opportunity made available to him to grossly out produce his average draft position being the go to guy in an offense that might be forced to throw the ball more should Ezekiel Elliot ridiculously sit the season out or miss a number of games early on. Even if he’s in the backfield to kick off the season, Cooper is going to be peppered with targets by Dak Prescott with him by far the best pass catching option currently on the roster.

Total Rushing Yards: 1100.5

Offensive Philosophy

Cooper had his moments early on with Oakland a season ago, but it wasn’t until he started running routes for the Cowboys that he turned into a weekly fantasy threat. With the Raiders, Amari went for a total of 280 receiving yards through six games. As already stated, the production ramped up quite a bit over the final 10 weeks with the former Crimson Tide receiver averaging 5.3 receptions per game and turning them into a whopping 725 yards and 5 TD snares.

That production working within an offense that ran the ball 43.2 percent of the time was awfully impressive. Now a year more familiar with the playbook and the WR1 of Kellen Moore’s attack, Cooper isn’t getting the appreciation from linemakers he should be getting with one of the easier wide receiver schedule’s laid out before him.

Schedule Breakdown

The weak link of the Eagles defense once again looks to be their secondary after conceding over 4,300 yards a season ago. The Giants weren’t much better themselves in allowing over 4,000 yards through the air. Washington possessed the best secondary of the Cowboys’ NFC East rivals, but it only ranked middle of the pack (No. 15). With that, Cooper is going to get six tasty matchups to feast upon in divisional play!

He also gets a rock solid cast of opponents to kick off the season against with only one of his first seven opponents ranking out as being tough on opposing wide receivers. That matchup kicks off the season against New York, and the only other notable one comes against Xavien Howard and the Miami Dolphins who ranked No. 13 against wide receivers last season.

Following that matchup, Cooper gets the Saints, Packers, Jets and Eagles heading into the Week 8 bye; all four of those teams rated out as the worst stop units against opposing wide receivers last season. He should be able to put a huge dent into his receiving yards target during that stretch. The back half of the schedule doesn’t look to be nearly as promising with tough tilts slated against the Vikings and Bills, but you can never truly tell what teams will look like heading into a new season.

The Bet

I’m thinking it’s finally time to start treating Amari Cooper as one of the best wide receivers in the game. He was selected by the Raiders with the fourth pick in the first round of the 2015 draft for a reason! Now playing on a playoff caliber team, it was evident how easily he was able to take it to the next level in his 12 overall played games with the Cowboys.

He went for 100+ receiving yards in five games with one of them the 217 yard and 3 TD masterpiece against the Philadelphia Eagles in a game the Cowboys ultimately went on to win in overtime. Why guys like Keenan Allen and TY Hilton are getting more love from linemakers at top rated sportsbooks is beyond me. Both of those players will be fighting for their stats with so many other options on the Chargers and Colts respective rosters. Save for Zeke, Cooper will be one of the primary targets of the attack – I fully expect him to make the most of them and surpass his receiving yards impost with relative ease!
