Detroit is one of the popular venues for the bowl season and has always had some sort of tie in to the Big Ten. This time around, it's the Minnesota Golden Gophers who are heading to Ford Field for the holidays for the Quick Lane Bowl. There, they'll take on the Central Michigan Chippewas out of the MAC.... 

Known more for basketball, Duke has actually made a bowl game in four straight seasons, but hasn't earned a bowl win in over 50 years.They'll look to buck that trend on Saturday as they take on another basketball powerhouse on the gridiron.... 

Of all of the teams which qualified for a bowl game late in the regular season, none provided a feel good story quite like the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Minnesota Gophers went 5-7 and looked like they might not be in a bowl game, but not enough teams won 6 games this year to become bowl eligible and the Gophers were invited to the Quick Lane Bowl for strong Academic Progress Rate. Yah, that’s right, strong Academic Progress Rate. Minnesota doesn’t deserve to be in a bowl after a disappointing year, but they are and are ready to tangle with the Central Michigan Chippewas in a Big 10/MAC showdown....

The 2015 Pinstripe Bowl offers up a battle between the Big Ten and ACC conferences. The Indiana Hoosiers and Duke Blue Devils square and yes it’s football, not basketball! You would think that this would be a great hoops game but no we are talking football and it is going to be a great game, maybe even a shootout.... 

Southern Mississippi boasts the superior record and has a great storyline as the school improved by eight wins in just two seasons. Despite that, they’ll have an uphill battle as they travel to Texas to take on a Washington team that’s been tested against much tougher competition throughout the year.... 

Mike Leach is having the time of his life with the Washington State Cougars. They're throwing the ball all over the field, and they're finally starting to really have some sustained success. Still, Wazzu hasn't won a bowl game since 2003, which is why the Sun Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes is so darn important to them....

The San Diego State Aztecs got off to a horrible start to their season, but they won each of their last nine games, including capturing the Mountain West title. Their reward is a trip to Honolulu for the Hawaii Bowl and a shot at taking down the AAC rep Cincinnati Bearcats.... 

I must say that these bowls are getting a little ridiculous. I mean, how can a team that goes 5-7 even qualify for a bowl game. That’s what the Nebraska Cornhuskers did, they have a losing record but somehow are playing in the postseason. The Cornhuskers square off against the UCLA Bruins in the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl.... 

The Northern Illinois Huskies had a really tough end of their season, losing home games against Ohio and Bowling Green to cost them a shot at the MAC title. However, it's not like the Boise State Broncos were in fine form down the stretch either, losing two of their last three games. These two perennial big time Group of Five schools could get together to make for a really entertaining Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday.... 

Terry Bowden has done a remarkable job rebuilding the Akron Zips. They never won a bowl game in their history, and they've only been to one way back in 2005, but they're here in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and are looking to pull off the upset of the Utah State Aggies to cap off what might be the most successful season in the program’s history.... 

Plenty of big schools had relatively easy schedules, but if it was so easy to go 13-0, everyone would do it. The only team to accomplish that this season is Clemson. And the unbeaten No. 1 team in the country can rally around the idea that no one believes in it, opening as a 3.5-point underdog with a trip to the national championship game on the line.... 

Alabama treated its SEC championship win like a business trip. Michigan State has been knocking on the door of really, really big things for years, and now it’s finally inside. The Spartans surprised a lot of people and only a one-point loss to Nebraska prevented them from entering the playoffs undefeated. They also had a few bounces go their way to help with their lofty record and went 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games.... 

In just the second ever Boca Raton Bowl, the No. 24 ranked Temple Owls will get a chance to close out a great season with a bowl win as they face the Rockets down in the Sunshine State.... 

Both the Bowling Green Falcons and Georgia Southern Eagles lost their head coaches leading into their bowl games, and that could put just a bit of a damper in what had the potential to be an explosive game at the GoDaddy Bowl.... 

The argument could be made that the two best teams in America are going to be on the field together in the national semifinal at the Orange Bowl. The Clemson Tigers are the undisputed No. 1 team in America, but few will argue the fact that the Oklahoma Sooners have looked like anything but the best team in the land ever since they were beaten by Texas inexplicably in October.... 

Last season, the Alabama Crimson Tide played in the second national semifinal as a huge favorite over a Big Ten team and were upset by an Ohio State side which went on to win the National Championship. Could deja vu be in order on New Year's Eve with the Michigan State Spartans?... 

High-scoring Western Kentucky went 11-2 and rolled through Conference USA with a 9-0 record including an impressive conference championship win over Southern Miss.But the South Florida Bulls finished the season with a flurry also and are taking action in the betting market with the nearby site.... 

For the first time in 17 years, the Red Wolves and Bulldogs will lock horns on the gridiron. Arkansas State will be aiming to keep its eight game win streak alive while the Bulldogs will aim to snap a two game skid against the closing pointspread.... 

After winning four and three the past two seasons, New Mexico jumped to seven-wins and will be motivated for a bowl game even on their own home field. Arizona has stronger stats and profiles, but the Wildcats motivation may not be as strong after qualifying for a New Year’s Day bowl last season and going just 6-6 this season.... 

Saturday will provide a day of firsts in the college football world. For the first time, the city of Orlando will host a third bowl game, the AutoNation Care Bowl. However, more important is the fact that the Georgia State Panthers get the chance to play in a bowl game for the first time. Their foes are the San Jose State Spartans, who will be the first 5-7 team to play in a bowl game in college football history....
