Week 6 NCAAF Bets – Texas vs. Oklahoma Football Lines

Week 6 NCAAF Bets

With impressive resurgence after a disappointing week one loss to the Maryland Terrapins the Texas Longhorns are catching attention and respect, especially with a defense that is among the most improved in the country. However, the Longhorns will be facing a supreme challenge going up against one of the most sophisticated and explosive offenses in the country. Indeed, the Oklahoma Sooners boast a bona fide Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Kyler Murray. The matchup of the Oklahoma offense and the Texas defense makes for phenomenal live betting possibilities. Overall this game ranks as one of the most challenging and highly anticipated handicaps of the college football season so far!

Recent Form

Oklahoma is 5-0 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread with four of their five games going over the total. The Sooners snapped a three-game losing streak against the spread with a 66-33 home payout over the Baylor Bears.

Texas is 4-1 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread with three of their five games going under the total. The Longhorns are coming off a 19-14 win at Kansas State but failed to cover as 8.5-point favorites. Despite the failure to cover the spread the win at Kansas State impressed all as the Wildcats have been one of the Longhorns toughest opponents.

Current Metrics

Texas remains an offensively challenged team with national rankings of 78th overall for total offense and 74th for scoring offense. The Longhorns defense has shown dramatic improvement with national rankings of 29th overall and 32nd for points allowed.

Oklahoma is the eighth highest scoring team in the nation and ranks 12th overall for total offense. Defense is the constant struggle for the Sooners. OU ranks 89th in the country for total defense and 51st for points allowed.

Players to Watch

Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is a top tier Heisman Trophy candidate that has a phenomenal quarterback rating of 203.0 so far this season that includes 11 touchdown passes and just two interceptions. In last week’s win over Baylor Murray began the game on the bench for missing a team meeting. Once unleashed he responded with an over the top performance of 17/21 for 432 yards passing with six touchdown passes. Murray also adds the element of being able to run with 6.2 yards per carry and a team high four rushing touchdowns. Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown has a team high 24 receptions good for 22.7 yards per catch with five touchdowns. CeeDee Lamb has 18.3 yards per catch with five TD’s.

While Texas lacks the overall Oklahoma firepower they do have a competent quarterback in Sam Ehlinger. So far Ehlinger has a 65% completion rate and nine touchdown passes with just two interceptions. Ehlinger could have a potentially good day against the subpar Oklahoma defense.

Head to Head Trends

Texas has owned this head to head series with five consecutive payouts and three of those five games going under the total.

Free ATS Pick

Kyler Murray will find the Texas defense far tougher than what Baylor brought to the table last week. Ehlinger should hold his own against a Sooners defense that is not championship caliber.

If there was ever a matchup of extreme live betting contrasts this would be the one!
