Week 13 Major Line Moves - College Football Spreads

It’s time for rivalry games as we reach Week 13 of the regular season college football schedule, also the final weekend that consists of a full slate of games. And with those intense matchups come all kinds of shifts and fluctuations in the lines. We’ve seen a number of contests move by as much as a field goal with several jumping the fence. And we’re likely to see more hectic activity before the games kickoff.

We’re not officially into bowl season yet, but the matchup between Alabama and Auburn is so huge that it’s called the Iron Bowl. No. 1 Bama opened as a 24-point favorite and had the line wagered down a point. It’s been a down year for the Tigers and this is their national championship game. Auburn was the only team to beat the Tide last year and would like nothing better than to do it again. BYU went from +13.5 to +11 for the Holy War tilt with Utah with the Utes looking ahead to the Pac-12 title game next week.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the biggest movers in early Week 13 betting action at BookMaker.eu.

Week 13 Major Line Moves

North Texas at UT-San Antonio

Opening Line: North Texas -18.5

Current Line: North Texas -24.5

The biggest line move of the week for games on the board comes in this in-state and Conference USA battle. North Texas has put together a solid season and bettors are pounding the Mean Green on the road. It’s easy to see why with the struggles the Roadrunners are having. Things went downhill for UTSA when quarterbacks Cordale Gundy and D.J. Gillins went down with injuries. They’ve scored just 30 points during a current five-game losing streak and the Roadrunners are last in the FBS in scoring and total yards. A six-point swing is a lot, but it’s justified in this matchup with UNT getting over 60 percent of the action even as the spread climbs.

UAB at Middle Tennessee

Opening Line: Middle Tennessee -2.5

Current Line: UAB -3

C-USA is the home of major line moves early this week with the line shifting by 5.5-points and jumping the fence in favor of the Blazers. The public isn’t betting this game so it’s strictly a wiseguy move, but UAB is getting a lot of love. The Blazers have already clinched the West Division and we have to wonder what their motivation is going to be. Middle Tennessee has a chance at winning the East with a victory and an FIU loss on Saturday. In that scenario these two would meet in the conference championship game. UAB had its eight-game winning streak snapped last week and would like to avoid a losing skid heading into the title game. I guess that could be enough to get the boys ready.

Arkansas at Missouri

Opening Line: Missouri -19.5

Current Line: Missouri -23

Arkansas has been the SEC’s punching bag this season and the betting public is counting on one more lopsided loss to end the year. After getting demolished, 52-6, at Mississippi State last week, Chad Morris suspended two starting defensive backs for the finale against Missouri, and those suspensions were enough to sway 90 percent of the action in favor of the Tigers. Missouri has one of the better passing games with Drew Lock running the show and he’s thrown for 760 yards and seven touchdowns in the last three games, all wins. The Hogs weren’t very good on the back end to begin with, and Lock could easily help cover the inflated line.

Oregon at Oregon State

Opening Line: Oregon -14.5

Current Line: Oregon -18.5

You can throw out the records and stats for the Civil War, and Oregon State is hoping to do just that, because their record and stats don’t match those of the Ducks. It hasn’t been the best of times for Oregon since they gave away that game to Stanford. The Ducks did win a pair right after, but they’ve dropped three of their last five to fall out of contention for the Pac-12 North. Two years ago the Ducks wrapped up a 4-8 season with a loss in Corvallis, now Justin Herbert and his crew has a shot at revenge. The rebuild in Eugene has been much quicker and the Beavers have struggled again this season. One of the worst defensive teams in the country will have a tough time slowing down the Ducks and a majority of people are thinking along the same lines, wagering the line four points.
