SEC Championship - Georgia at Alabama Odds

Week 14 includes the biggest championship game of them all. In fact, Saturday’s Southeastern Conference Championship Game is a combined rematch of last year’s epic National Championship Game and a potential College Football Playoff preview that could be played yet again next month. The defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide have looked unbeatable all season. Yet the one team tabbed as capable of taking them out are the talented Georgia Bulldogs. Certainly, Alabama and Georgia are the class of the SEC. And a Georgia win could trigger national chaos for the CFB Playoff!

Live Betting Odds Analysis

Of course, Alabama is getting plenty of public love based on their status as the dominant program in college football over the past several seasons. The Tide also boasts highly touted Heisman Trophy candidate Tua Tagovailoa who is a quarterback that has given them an element that they have never had before on offense. Georgia is perhaps the second most talented team in the land and may offer live betting value throughout the game as a dangerous dawg with bite.

Roll Tide

Alabama is 12-0 straight up and 8-4 against the spread with eight of their games going over the total. The fact that such a public team as Alabama could get the money in eight of 12 games is a testament to their depth and dominance. Last week the Tide rolled in a 52-21 home payoff over the Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl. Alabama has gotten the money in five of their last six games. Their last two games have gone over the total.

Dawgs Bite the Books

Georgia is 11-1 straight up and 7-5 against the spread with a 6-5-1 mark over the total. Last week the Dawgs earned a 45-21 home payout over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. It was the fourth payout in five games for UGA. Georgia has gone under the total in just one of their last six games.

Matchup Metrics

Alabama ranks fourth overall in the country for total offense and second for scoring. Defensively the Tide ranks sixth overall and third in the country for fewest points allowed.

Georgia ranks 13th in the nation for total and scoring offense. The Bulldogs rank 12th for total defense while ranking 10th for fewest points allowed.

Contrast in Styles

Georgia boasts the 11th ranked rushing offense in the nation. Their style is more reflective of the past Alabama teams before Tua’s arrival. D’Andre Swift leads Georgia with 962 yards and 6.9 yards per carry with nine touchdowns. Elijah Holyfield is right behind with 896 yards and 6.7 yards per carry with nine touchdowns. Quarterback Jake Fromm is a superb game manager that has compiled a 179.4 rating with 24 touchdown passes and just five interceptions.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has revolutionized the Crimson Tide with an element never before seen in team history. Tua has a 212.5 rating with 36 touchdown passes and only two interceptions. He is averaging 11.86 yards per pass. Running back Damien Harris keeps defenses honest with 6.1 yards per carry and seven touchdowns. Receiver Jerry Jeudy has 1079 yards, 19.3 yards per catch and 11 touchdowns.

Georgia has failed to get the money in their last two games against Alabama. Six of the last seven games between these teams went over the total. As good as Georgia truly is Alabama is at a whole other level. Normally laying such a number to Georgia would not be wise. Yet in this situation they lack the firepower to keep up with Tua and the Tide.
