Florida Gators Win Total Odds Analysis

Florida Gators Win Total Odds Analysis

The Florida Gators exceeded expectations a year ago, winning 10 games and returning to the upper tier of college football. A program that used to be one of the best in the country is hoping to stack another solid year in 2019 and return to the upper echelon of the SEC. Florida has reason for the optimism but the oddsmakers are pulling back the reins a bit, as the current college football odds have the Gators dropping a handful of games during the season. This is a big season for the Gators, who would love to return to prominence in college football.

Florida Win Total Odds Analysis

The Gators play in 12 regular season games, which means they can only lose two in order to hit the “over” on this win total. That is currently the underdog choice as the “under” is believed to be the more likely scenario.

Florida begins the season with a game against the University of Miami, followed by an easy game against UT Martin and a road game at Kentucky. The Gators follow that up with contests against Towson, Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, Vanderbilt and Missouri. The season will wrap with a rivalry game against the Florida State Seminoles. That game could help determine the result of this prop bet if Florida heads into it with eight or nine wins on the year.

Florida Odds

Florida has confidence heading into this season in large part due to the return of quarterback Feleipe Franks. He took a big step forward in 2018, which is why the Gators were able to make substantial improvements and finish the year 10-3. He is going to have some nice options to throw the ball to, with Van Jefferson, Kadarius Toney and Trevon Grimes leading Florida’s talented group of wide receivers. The issue is on the offensive line, where the Gators will need to replace a lot of experience.

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was pursued by the NFL but the Gators gave him a raise to keep him around. That’s a big deal as Grantham is hoping to continue the rise Florida made defensively in 2018. Seven starters are back from a year ago, which includes the talented starting cornerback tandem of C.J. Henderson and Marco Wilson. There is talent and experience among the linebackers, but the defensive line has its share of question marks and must be shored up.

Key Stats or Trends

Florida played really well last season, finishing with nine regular season wins. The expectations are high heading into 2019 because of all the returning talent, and it will take double-digit victories in order to cover the win total this year. The Gators haven’t won more than nine games in a regular season since way back in 2012, so it will be easier said than done.

While Florida should have a good year, the win total may be too aggressive. The Gators could very well push with nine wins, but a slip-up or two could have them finishing “under” the projected total. That is certainly the way the money has been going early on.
