College Football Odds – Week 11 Major Line Moves

College Football Odds

There have been more early line changes on the college football betting lines for Week 11 than we’ve seen recently, mainly due to an increase in the amount of wagers placed as we near the end of the regular season. There are some intriguing matchups, including some rivalry games, on the slate that always inspire the general betting public to participate.

The biggest move so far has been in the Mountain West Conference tilt between San Diego State and UNLV, with the line spiking 4.5-points in favor of the Aztecs, who are currently a 22.5-point favorite. Rivalry games always get more interest and line moves will occur when one team gets a majority of the early action. They always tend to even out once we get closer to kickoff. That may not be the case for the Bedlam matchup between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as sharp action has moved the number 2.5-points in favor of the Sooners. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest movers in early Week 11 betting action at BookMaker.eu.

Week 11 Major Line Moves

Clemson at Boston College

Opening Line: Clemson -17

Current Line: Clemson -19.5

There is no hotter team in college football right now than Clemson, and that includes Alabama. The Tigers beat Louisville last week, covering the 38-point closing spread by nearly three touchdowns and they haven’t been favored by less than 12-points all season. And there’s good reason. Clemson averages the fourth-most points in the FBS, has surrendered the fourth-fewest and outscored its last four opponents 240-36. BC is having an outstanding season and can throw a wrench into Clemson’s plans for another ACC Atlantic title, but it’s unlikely after plenty of early money moved the line up to Clemson -19.5. Things have leveled off and the line probably won’t go much further either way.

Michigan at Rutgers

Opening Line: Michigan -37

Current Line: Michigan -39.5

The Wolverines got pounded when the line opened at -37 and the number quickly spiked. Michigan has proven to be a worthy CFP team after destroying Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State, three of the Big Ten’s best, in consecutive games. Next up are the East’s bottom-feeders before the annual showdown with Ohio State that could be for all the division marbles. I don’t expect maize and blue to have a letdown, and even if they did a win is a near certainty. Rutgers is dead last in the FBS in scoring with just over 15 points per game and the Scarlett Knights haven’t scored more than 17 points in any of their last eight games. They won’t do it Saturday against the fifth-ranked scoring defense. Can the Wolverines score 40 points? They’ll have to in order to cover and over 50 percent of the public is betting on it.

Vanderbilt at Missouri

Opening Line: Missouri -14

Current Line: Missouri -17

A quick glance at the records would indicate a closer line. A deeper look at the stats suggests the current number is probably about right. Sharps are hitting Mizzou, betting on the Tigers’ ability to penetrate Vandy’s below average defense. And Drew Lock has shredded lesser teams this season, throwing for nearly 2,400 yards overall. Missouri is coming off a strong bounce back game, whipping Florida, 38-17, in the Swamp last week as 6.5-point dogs for their first SEC win of the year. Mizzou is is 4-1 against the line at home this season, but the public is favoring the visitors.

UNLV at San Diego State

Opening Line: San Diego State -18

Current Line: San Diego State -22.5

The biggest move of the week so far has taken place right here with the line spiking 4.5 points in favor of the Aztecs. This probably has more to do with the Rebels than it does SDSU, but it’s a significant change nonetheless. UNLV hasn’t won a game in two months and when New Mexico and San Jose State can drop half a hundred on you, it’s a clear indication that the defense is weak. At least the Rebels were in some of those games thanks to an offense that ranks 23rd running the football, but they couldn’t even do that last week and fell to Fresno State 48-3. People took notice with SDSU battling the Bulldogs for first in the MWC West, and expect a similar result.
