College Football Betting – Top 25 Odds and Matchups

We’ll keep a close eye on a couple of new teams as we enter Week 3 of the 2019 college football season after the top-25 had a mild shakeup at the bottom. Impressive wins by Maryland and USC over ranked foes vaulted them into the rankings, knocking their opponents out of the top-25. The Terps hammered Syracuse, 63-20, to essentially switch places with the Orange at No. 21. Meanwhile, playing with backup turned starter Kedon Slovis after the loss of JT Daniels, the Trojans got all over Stanford to enter the poll at No. 24. In the storied history of USC football, Slovis’ 377 passing yards set a program record for a freshman.

We don’t know a lot about Maryland at this stage, but putting up 142 points in two games is impressive. The Terps are laying 8-points for this week’s matchup with Temple and another win sets up a huge Big Ten showdown with Penn State.

We do know the teams at the top of the rankings are for real. No. 1 Clemson held off No. 12 Texas AM, 24-10, though the Tigers failed to cover the spread against the Aggies for the second straight season. Clemson was upset, 27-24, in its last visit to Syracuse two years ago as a 23.5-point favorite. The Tigers are spotting the Orange 26.5-points on the college football betting line for Saturday’s matchup. No. 2 Alabama cruised to a 62-10 win over New Mexico State and hits the road for a matchup with South Carolina laying 25.5-points.

Here is the top-25 schedule and odds for Week 3 of the college football season. BookMaker.eu will have spreads and totals for every game throughout the 2019 season.

Unlike last week when there were two mammoth games between ranked foes on the schedule, there is no such matchup in Week 3. Instead, four top-25 teams face an opening line over 30-points. The largest spread on the board favors No. 7 Notre Dame by 36.5 for its tilt with New Mexico. The Irish enjoyed an off week after opening with a win at Louisville and will get primed for a mega showdown with Georgia in Week 4.

No. 8 Auburn had a tougher than expected game with Tulane but escaped with a 24-6 victory covering the 15-point closing line to improve to 2-0 ATS. The Tigers are spotting Kent State five touchdowns on the Week 3 opening college football betting line. No. 3 Georgia opened -33.5 for its game with Arkansas State and No. 12 Texas is a 30.5-point favorite against Rice.

No. 1 Clemson ( -26.5 ) at Syracuse

After Syracuse was blasted by Maryland the Week 3 matchup with Clemson doesn’t look so inviting. Take solace Cuse backers, the Orange have played Clemson tough the last two times pulling off a stunning upset win inside the Carrier Dome two years ago. Syracuse had a lead against the Tigers last year only to watch a backup lead a comeback. The Orange might not be so lucky this year with Trevor Lawrence looking to have a breakout game after a couple mediocre outings. Cuse is getting 26.5-points on the opening line and the Orange is 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings with Clemson.

Florida State at No. 25 Virginia ( -7.5 ), 7:30 p.m. ET (ACCN)

A look at the schedule and we thought this might be the game Virginia gets tested. The Cavs are trending up in Bronco Mendenhall’s fourth year at the helm and they are favored to win the ACC Coastal. But in a conference with Clemson that’s like being the tallest midget. Virginia hasn’t had much success against the Noles, but the Cavs catch them at a good time. FSU barely escaped UL Monroe last week and looks ripe for the picking. The Cavs are favored by 7.5-points, which probably won’t be enough.
